Your sending unit has to be matched to the gauge. Unless the gauge is adjustable. Look up the specs on your auto meter gauge and then compare to your sender.

Call Cruiser Outfitters. @cruiseroutfit Know your bushing size so you can talk to them to make sure they are the same as stock. They will know what measurements you need. They have all the stock size shackles.

If you damaged any bearings, getting it to run will ensure they are toast and could take the crank with them.
You need to pull bearing caps to inspect bearings. There is at least one that is likely fried, but all may be damaged. If you can find the oiling path diagram, I would start with the first rod or main bearing that gets oil from the pump and work out from there.
