REALLY I am just looking to take a peek inside (images) the rear cabs of 80’s premised on extended traveling with more than one person. Read at your peril otherwise.
I just want to assure any who might read this;
I have spent hundreds of hours in the threads: reading: scanning images: and...
Somewhat concerning as Catherine and I drill down on the budget; Insurance for the rig. A couple of you know that we are gradually downsizing and will probably wind-up pouring some $30K into the 80 for a slow roll across the United States in 2020.
No joke, we have never done anything like this...
Solid rear hatch glass insert?
See image below; (Not my image but out of auction house in N. Europe).
And those load bars and drip moulding mounts are massive btw.
I do not own the image attached. I found the images by way of an auction house in Canada or somewhere in the North East portion of the United State, sorry I cannot give proper credit. I do not usually make a habit of stealing others’ media content.
Anyway. Cool Cruiser's website has the PPG...
A number of years back Romer mentioned on the fact page that (at that time 2007) dual OEM filler necks were available via Australia Toyota dealers/vendors.

We’re getting some back issues of Overland Journal but I want to talk to some old-timers who are taking a break from the trail. Maybe one day I will steal a line from Foucault or Deleuze and submit an essay to the editors at OJ.

NOTE: I do NOT own the image--pulled from Northridge 4x4 website.
Effectively I am reaching the end of parts list for the build. Front-to-back of the rig parts are roughly $20K. Which is about what I suspected before I started. I have 18-24mo.s to find a fabricator, powder coat shop, a CNC shop...
What will the market bare? 1996 Non Anniversary, Non Locked, Moonglow, 160K miles.
I have been fiddling with the numbers and am now thinking about alternative ways to get what I want... so the unlocked 80 might be headed to a new home? I just cannot justify what I want to do with the money...
...yeah, anyway, I know that the shop/service manual for 1996 are posted somewhere in the threads in multiple posts. I have already downloaded one in pdf format but can no longer locate it because I cannot remember what drive I stored it on. After 3o+ minutes of frustration I am reduced to...
Went-out to pick-up the kid and start the cruiser. Starter contacts stuck/worn: Click, no start. Try again. Click, no start. Third time vehicle fires up roughly: Warning Lights at cluster LIGHT UP and stay lit. Attempt to shut it down. Engine quits but starter (?) sequence still continues even...
I worked with Toyota when the 80 series was still being sold on the lot new and I fell in love with them then. From that moment to this life moved forward in so many different and often unexpected ways but my love for Land Cruisers never waned.
As fortune would have it I very nearly purchased...
