I ran 33s on stock AHC for a long time. No mods needed. And if you go with a skinny 33, you'll avoid any serious increase in wear and tear over stock. My recommendation is to NOT deactivate AHC. The system works best with regular exercise. Keep the fluid fresh, the pressures in spec, the...
How do you like the ride with your current springs? I'm an AHC-lover, so I wanted something as close to that ride as possible and the Eibach kit delivers. I encourage giving Tanner Hallihan at Eibach a call and discuss your setup. He's a member here and his 100 was the test rig for development...
Eibachs are lower rates than pretty much every other aftermarket spring available, but they have a taller free height. If you're stock, get the standard springs. If you're loaded up, have a rear bumper, drawers or any of the typical overland stuff, go for the HD springs. I'm happy with mine...
I still love the 255s and plan to stick with them, so I can't offer any opinion on your first question. Regarding your second point about ATs in 255, I'm planning on upgrading to a set of Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs in 255/85R17 on a set of Rock Warriors. They are an aggressive AT, but...
Been a while since I've posted here but I thought I'd give your thread a bump. Had the Eibach kit installed to replace a failed AHC system. Got the shocks and the HD rear springs along with OEM non-AHC front t-bars. It's hard to isolate the effects of the springs and shocks alone since I had...
I use eye bolts in the sides of the cross bars as anchor points and strap things down. For those cases, i installed footman loops on them and ran some webbing straps through to the eye bolts. It keeps them in place but still easy to remove without having to open them and take out the contents.
I have both. The 100 is the family adventure wagon and the Tacoma (3rd gen) is my daily. Despite being 20 years newer, the Tacoma feels much more primitive. That being said, keep both if you can. The Taco is great when you need a bed and the gas savings is minor but noticeable.
I love it. It's a no-cut hybrid (steel/aluminum). I bought it before the full aluminum was available and would have preferred the weight savings, as you said. I've had zero issues with it, honestly. Putting it together was a bit of a puzzle but that's about it. The latching system is also a...
I run the Dick Cepek Extreme Country in 255/85R16. They were the lightest tires I could find in that size (50#), which is what I was after. They're made by Cooper, E-rated but only two ply sidewalls, which saves weight. I was fine with the tradeoff because I know my terrain. They've lasted a...
Sounds like you probably have very high neutral pressures. To get pressures readings, you have to hook up your reader, then go from L to N and record the numbers. The system doesn't give "live" info.
That would be perfect. I could use one of the Blue Sea USB outlets to fit a switch blank, maybe have a blank spot to panel-mount a winch remote plug and then 4 switches.
@BenCC I think this is one of those makes where flexibility is key. Personally, I'd like to see a main frame with one or two vertical supports and then a variety of snap-in inserts that can house different items. For me, I'd love the relocated CDL and Hazard switches and then just a series of...
AHC shock actuators go bad about as often as dealer techs correctly diagnose AHC issues, which is very rarely. They are, essentially, hydraulic rams with no gas charge and only function to transmit linear motion to the accumulator globes. My recommendation to anyone with any potential AHC...
