That is a bit disappointing but I can see an OEM deciding it isn't worth the engineering and mfg cost to redo a component for a 10+ y/o platform. How many miles were on yours when it failed?
Thanks Spresso. I will probably source that to have on hand just in case considering their relatively low price tag. Don't want to tear it down more than once. Any inspection criteria other than scoring/polishing?
PO had the truck on dealership fill to my knowledge. After I bought it I did one...
Resurrection attempt:
At 156K I have the same leak and know I will have to do the rear main seal at some point, but was wondering if anyone had thoughts on other things to replace while it’s torn apart. The search function is being glitchy and giving me no results when I search “rear main seal”...
I have been tolerating what sounds like the same issue every winter since I have owned my '02. It sounds like a buzz/rattle from the engine compartment when I am stopped at lights and at low RPMs. I do not notice the noise during summer so I am thinking the components contract with the "cold"...
I haven't tried. Suppose I can't hurt anything though. Not like my "sick gunz" are gonna overpower the compressing force those springs are putting down.
Soooo when I added my Kings about 4 months back, Paddo suggested that the OEM insulators would probably work with the larger OD of the Kings. I stuck new ones on but recently have noticed some kind of noise at slow speed over bumps. Climbed under the truck and found this. The insulators appear...
@thegreatgazoo what'd you end up doing? I have a similar situation at 141K. Steering is tight but there's definitely moisture on the boot. One mechanic told me to vampire pump out what I could of the old fluid and add Lucas PS conditioner/leak stop back in as makeup...another told me to leave it...
I have a leaking front right strut and the reservoir is empty on my 02LX. I just discovered this fresh hell this morning and am digging into the AHC system layout but since the strut is a hydraulic ram, I'm inclined to think its just a bad seal. I didn't see those listed for sale above. Are...
T fittings are leaking on my 2002 LX w/137K. I have OEM fittings and plan to do the work today once the sun comes out.
Did a decent amount of research and definitely considered going with metal t's instead of OE plastic but wanted to share the following:
I work for an automotive research lab...
Gracias Senor Dawg. The housings appear to be in great shape. I don't think the expense of a whole new setup is in the cards ATM so Option 1 seems like the best bet. This may be a silly question, but if just take apart the existing Eagle Eyes housing can I follow your TSX/D2S recipe or am going...
@DirtDawg kind of a curveball: New to me '02 LX. PO installed an "eBay special" and after owning the truck for three months one of the angel eyes and one of the sets of LED "side markers" have died...don't know when he installed them thus cannot comment on longevity.
Starting from a non-stock...
