Seat belts interchangeable side to side ???

Well, I'm in Costa Rica which has only about 5,000,000 people ...a lot of old cars ...and a lot of mechanics, upholstery and body shops to keep them moving. So, the upholstery shops are the likely candidates to repair seat belts. Your point is well taken however. And, if I have the work done...

Seat belts interchangeable side to side ???

BILT4ME - It's a 1997, and I just ordered a 1997 right side front (passenger) belt to replace the front drivers side belt with. It sounds like it is doable if I put the belt on the original drivers side retractor. And, if the length poses a problem, I may be able to get an auto upholstery shop...

Seat belts interchangeable side to side ???

Thanks Pancake Donkey. You have saved me the time of even thinking about trying to use the passenger side retractor on the driver's side.

Seat belts interchangeable side to side ???

Are the FJ80 seat belts and retractor assemblies interchangeable (i.e., identical) side to side? Can I replace my front driver's side assembly with a front passenger side assembly? And, thank you all for your interest. GringoBob

Best break disc pads type/maker ???

Yeah ... i just checked out a dozen brake comparison web pages ...they are all over the place, and they largely contradict each other. What I did note was that Toyota brakes are almost always in the top 10 as are EBC ...but the EBC's get heavily dissed in a few surveys. As I said ...all over...

Best break disc pads type/maker ???

But, ...you will use those brakes a a lot if you don't have a high compression engine !!! Yeah ...and are not in 1st or 2nd gear (rather than neutral.)

Best break disc pads type/maker ???

HDJdreams - I do live in a country with large mountainous areas ...Costa Rica. I expected to get some firm recommendations on a superior braking system here. And, I have as far as brake pads are concerned. But rotors/discs ? The info is scant. I will check out Stoptech. But as you said...

Best break disc pads type/maker ???

Proven - I have some mixed emotions on changing out the discs. There are possibly some superior types available out there. But, as you know, at least some of them just don't hold up. Which ones (if any) are superior to the solid/stock discs ? I need to do some study there. Downhill in Costa...

Best break disc pads type/maker ???

Great ! Another endorsement for the 100 series brake pads up front. And, I will check out EBC Green Pads ...they seem superior from what I have read so far. Thanks! And, if the discs have enough meat left on them ...I probably wont rush to change them out.

Best break disc pads type/maker ???

Now that's good info ! ...using the 100 series pads up front. I will be sure to do that ! Thanks! But that begs another question. Can the 100 series rear brake pads also be used on a 80 series ? Gringo Bob

    ARB Steps Rubber Doohickey

D Darb- Yeah, I found the mud guards ...$25 new for the right side ...$35 used for the left side (go figure!) And about double that w/shipping to Costa Rica. They are nice to have over having nothing, but they are not a fine example of Toyota engineering. I could have come up with a better...

No ac no heat no blower 96 lx450

Buy a spray can of electronics cleaner and spray that "amplifier well while scrubbing softly but briskly with a soft toothbrush. Let dry and spray (wash down) again with the cleaner. ...Worked for me and some of us others (even on some ugly looking units) ...and the cost of a new one is better...

Back of Front Seat Cargo Net Pockets

I will be on the lookout for netting material ...but I'm in Costa Rica and suspect it will be tougher to find than in the USA. Then again, you never know till you try! Thanks for the info! GringoBob

Back of Front Seat Cargo Net Pockets

Now that's an idea. I could be more easily swayed if those seat organizers were available in brown or tan to match my interior colors ...I'll have to investigate that. But yeah ...black, brown or tan ...that's a possibility. Thanks! GringoBob

Back of Front Seat Cargo Net Pockets

Hello all ! When I bought my 97 LC one of the cargo net pockets (on the back of a front seat) was missing. The plastic mounting frame is there, but the net is gone. Do you know any source where these nets can be purchased? Or, do you know of an alternative to the nets that works and looks...

how do I get better mpg?

OK ...Why isn't anybody talking about this ??? Make the LC a hybrid with propane as the primary fuel. Here in Costa Rica this is a popular mod and using propane cuts fuel costs better than 1/2 !!! Then again, gasoline is over $4/gal here so logistically it may not be equal in the USA. But...
