Had similar issues, get a magnifying glass and look for cracks in the "computer" solder connections, I found two small cracks in mine, resoldered, all good! Didn't really need to add solder, just needed to melt and reflow the connection. Hope this helps.
Your right, the method I'm talking about is used in the commercial, refrigeration, freezers, and all things cold. I submit that i was never really trained on the automotive side, but a/c is a/c! Don't understand the methodology of just pulling a vacuum for 45 mins without knowing if your vacuum...
So after you've got everything hooked and sealed to the best of your knowledge, you'll hook up the vacuum pump, high side or low side, doesn't really matter. If you have an A/c vacuum gauge (not the same as your High Side, Low Side Gauge Manifolds), you'll want to draw your vacuum to at least...
I wasn't able to find brass ones local, just the common zinc plated. I got them from a local True value. Because of the risk of dissimilar metals/corrosion, I used a product called Tefgel on the threads. It acts like a threadlock and thread sealant. I've used the stuff in the marine industry for...
You two don't hold back! Keep it up doing awesome! Working on my a/c as well! Still sourceing the high side line in front of the condenser! Just make sure that you flush your piping with nitrogen during the vacuum phase! Then charge it with the proper amount of oil/refrigerant.
Wow, you guys have done an outstanding job on your 60! Hope to get mine there someday!
Gonna be in Oahu for a couple months for work, so planning to ship my 60 from Big Island to there to keep working on it during my off time, so when the time comes, can I get some Aloha on good places to get...
Or you could throw in some headers... get rid of that heat relationship between intake and exhaust that tends to overheat the intake and crack upon expansions and retractions... at least for a desmog. Get that air flow between the intake and exhaust. Not cheap, but...
Alright Lady Cruiser! May i partake in your infinite knowledge on a self re-curve? Would love to send my Dizzy to JimC, but I don't have the luxury of the truck being down... Pretty please?
Before I found that my plugs were clean, I stopped by Napa and picked up a set of spark plug anti fouler, never used them before, but was going to give them a shot, the set was like $5bucks, read a few reviews where people have used them with success, but mostly they put in on older engines that...
Got a little tinkering done yesterday, decided to go through the desmog that the PO did prior using the "How to Desmog" pdf found here to check all the vacuum lines. Something I should have done long ago.... Found a couple issues along the way. One my choke opener was plugged into the Port...
I definitely didn't see the post from Jim C on not screwing with the butterly valve, took mine out, snapped a screw :bang:, had to drill it out and re-tapp all because I had forgot that these plates screws get mushroomed to prevent them from coming loose and falling out into your intake.... He's...
Went for a good drive today and didn't notice any blue smoke on decal, didn't have the chance to have anyone following me, but I was watching religiously in my mirror. Still a bunch of black smoke on acceleration, but I reduced my idle mixture down from 3 1/2 turns to 2 1/2 and it seems a lot...
Aloha Mudders!
Im trying to diagnose a spark plug fouling issue that is happening on #1 and #2 cylinders. I first noticed the issue when I was checking the timing on the engine, had some random stumbles and my Induction Light was not giving me consistent light pulses. So I pulled the wire and...
Wow That is impressive! I did my manifold gasket a few months ago and EGR inlet it was pretty clean, i got lucky! lol Thankfully I have a new PCV valve in now and looking into ripping out the EGR and welding the hose inlet shut instead of ordering the block off plate, you know save every dime i...
Ha! i remember those shops littering my home town, most of them were out of their homes! Yet @Landpimp, I wouldn't necessarily call Gig Harbor a small town, Its no Tacoma or Seattle, but definitely bigger that my hometown of Sumner!!! Well at least back when the valley was still farms and turf...
Pulled the Emission board apart to look at the solder points of the connector, found three cracks in the solder. Re-soldered them and so far my ICS is working properly, but time will tell as it was an intermittent problem. Cross referencing my pic with the cracks and @Output Shaft pic of the...
