It is strong PERIOD. There are guys running Cummins with them and in Saudi Arabia they are running 1,000hp+ doing sand drags.
I have never met a guy who has wrecked one, or even heard of it. I'm sure it has happened.....but it seems VERY rare. I think you would grenade the front differential...
Great question!
I used Focal Integration 6-3/4" components. I mounted the tweeters high on the door but close enough to the drivers to not cause any issues IMO.
I'm running them in a 3-way active system (no rear door speakers) and they sound amazing. They do like power, at least 50W, so I...
Update:
These have failed, one is leaking oil. They no longer support the hatch at all.
I called the number on the support and aside from a $9.70 shipping charge, they are honoring the lifetime warranty and sending out another pair. I'm fine paying the shipping and the whole process took...
I ended up removing mine after the hardline split. I kept the heater from under the seat. One day I might reinstall it with new lines, but for now the front heater works well.....the kids don't complain THAT much.
Denso makes a good Rad absolutely. However, their packaging is absolute garbage. I had to send the 1st 2 rads for my '97 4Runner back because the plastic nipple was busted off. On the second one I was fed up and was just going to use JB weld....except the broken piece wasn't even in the box...
25% premium for diesel? Yikes. I guess it depends what region of the world you live in. Here in BC diesel has been cheaper than gas over the last 5 years. Usually $0.05 to $0.18 per liter cheaper. I've never seen a gas variant in anything get better fuel economy than it's diesel...
Looks good. If you plan on keeping it for a long time and don't mind the pitfalls of selling a vehicle with a salvage title then GO FOR IT!
Oh, and make sure to secure that roof rack.
Seal 9.5 and 12.5 Gen2 can have the clutch transmission clocked in 22.5° increments. So you can orient the clutch handle pretty much wherever you like.
Also, the 12.5 assumes a foot forward install and comes with the handle oriented 90° to the feet...so facing up when installed.
Competitive advantage is that it will be full bolt-on and CARB Certified. No need for injectors or new stand alone or piggy back computers. Will it generate 1,000 U-joint tossing-axle twisting-driveshaft spaghetti making horsepower? no.
I lived through 3 failed HG's on a 3VZE within 180,000 km's.....now that was pain. (1 warranty replacement) My 1FZ is at 445,000 km's on OG head gasket according to previous owner who bought it new. I know it eventually will fail, and I am probably super lucky it hasn't for me yet. I won't...
