Hi All, it's been a while, but I am back at wrenching on a project. I am just starting to put my rear axle back together after a total disassemble, clean, and paint. I pressed in new bearings and seals the other night and this is where my question is. I am going to rear disc brakes. When I...
A great daily driven rig. Suspension and Body are stock. Very nice wheels and decent stock size summer tires for the road. Not good for winter or more than a gravel driveway. Front driver seat has cracks in the leather, other seats are used but good. No third row. Husky liners front, rear...
eBay listing: Vibrant Performance (1141) Ultra Quiet Resonator 2.5"
We have the complete single cat EMS exhaust on both of our 80s. Mine is great once I shortened up the tail piece. However, when I drove my wife's the other day I was stunned by the drone and volume of the sound. She says...
Tires are virtually new, less than 200 miles on them. Studs still look new. They were used last winter on a plow vehicle that plows a 2 mile long driveway.
Retail is $230/ea plus studding. $400 takes them. Buyer can arrange shipping from 81621. I am in Basalt, Colorado near Glenwwod Springs...
Took down a full grown deer at about 50 mph and have no damage. Only a bit of fur on the tow attachment points.
The deer was killed on impact. Pretty much got her straight on.
It was a solid impact. I hate to think of the damage if it was my wife in her rig and factory bumper.
It was easy for me to see, and hear, that my tranny mount had separated itself from itself. It was equally quick to swap out. However, I haven't really had the time to investigate the motor mounts. Would a bad motor mount be the root of the tranny mount fail. I would expect the driver side one...
Five of the tires have been over Pearl Pass and a few other areas in the Aspen/Crested Butte area a few times. They are dirty but 90% tread remains. One tire has not ever been mounted.
They are mounted on five very nice, but not perfect 80 series wheels with conical/acorn type lugs. 93-94...
After looking through the threads a front main search brings up, I am somewhat hopeful for a less invasive issue. I was able to clean the whole front underside of the rig, the amount of oil on everything seemed to loosen everything for the power wash. What I found is a very leaky front oil pan...
Finally bit the bullet and spent $10 on a 14" rubber antenna to see if I could make it work. I haven't run through a car wash yet, but on the road it's good and reception is better than the broken mast.
I put one on my wife's too. One from Napa and one from auto zone. Different...
I replaced two of the hard mounts with reinforced rubber type strap mounts. Essentially two pieces of metal either welded or bolted to the chassis exhaust mount or the exhaust itself with what looks like semi truck tire flap riveted between. I bought them from autozone for about $5 each. It...
I swapped in a new radiator and a LandTank fan clutch and now I get a P0125 (insuficent coolant temp for closed loop operation). Watching my scan tool's live data I am staying between 179 and 185. It is night and only 80 out right now, but I did climb a couple mile grade to see if I could get a...
So I found that I have a broken brush in the rear actuator. I searched and came across a closed thread that has a link to a brush company. This seems to be the closest in size that I can find: ACP-036A
I measured the other good brush to be about 0.3x0.2x0.2, am I close?
This is a real...
My rear locker is not working. I have rebuilt the actuator and have double checked that it is working correctly, but still the locker is not engaging. So next I want to pull the third to see whats going on inside, every thread and manual says to lock the locker before taking the third out...
It seems like some kind of dampening device. I am about to re-install my rear output housing and am wondering if I will miss this part? I have EMS exhaust so it make the whole process a little more difficult.
Anyone have experience ditching this 5lb piece of rubber?
Something is making noise(popping) in the right rear at slow speeds. The wheel bearing got repacked and adjusted when I put in a new seal last year. Nothing is leaking, lugs are tight, everything seems to be tight.
I put the whole truck up in the air on jack stands and let it idle, nothing...
First I have to say I am super stoked with how this thing is going together, even with my novice welding skills.
My question is... One of my in-frame bolts, the way back one, is missing. What is a good option for replacement? If it was the outermost bolt I could just weld a new one to the...
Anyone running this combo. It seems to me that the '95-97 trans is robust enough to handle a 5.3l, but would it simplify or complicate the swap?
I am just curious because I saw on the Mark's Adapter site they have "Kits" the use the stock tranny and a V8.
