Oil mist issues with ARB Air Lockers in a 200 series

Really late to the replay, but hopefully this will help anyone in the future reading this. The purge valves work really, really well.

Need immediate help: coolant flush question

I agree with @marques. I think you nailed it. The 3UR has a water passage design that is difficult to get air bubble stuck it. Toyota learned their from their failure of the 3.slow, so it’s pretty easy these days on modern Toyotas. Drive with confidence.

What have you done to your 200 Series this week?

A flex head 12mm wrench. The torque spec on those 3x bolts is 9 lb ft, so it takes very little to pop them loose. I don't think it is too early. Really what I see from oil analysis is that the first change at 50k is about the right time. But then these transmission can go 100k after that and...

What have you done to your 200 Series this week?

I have been and always will be a cruiser fanboy. Driven many around world, almost exclusively in conflict areas or places some nation/states label as war zones. They work very well but still have their issues. I've lost many turbos on the 4.5L diesels (both on the 200 or 70 platform). We...

What have you done to your 200 Series this week?

Nope. This started for me by an old friend who is a personal chef in LA. Some people that he regularly cooks for where talking about travel, and he said, “you should talk to my friend.” From then, it’s just been word of mouth. Which I feel works for me. These trips require a lot of trust, so I...

What have you done to your 200 Series this week?

I know… I’ve been a bad cruiser friend. I now take people around the world on (mostly) vehicle based adventures. Because of that, I’ve had my focus tunneled to those clients. So from planning these trips, to building the trucks, then shipping all equipment and coordinating their travel into...

What have you done to your 200 Series this week?

I pull the return hose off and attach a clear hose to the barb. After I drop the pan, clean the magnets, refill pan, I pump one qt out and then add one quart until cherry red (or green if I’m putting in the super good stuff). I’ve found that it’s simple, very clean, and just plane works...

What have you done to your 200 Series this week?

Did full ATF exchange on the ‘18. Cruiser had 80,000 miles. Looked normal for that mileage. I did an ‘06 100 series with 195,000 miles on original fluid yesterday… what a difference a full exchange made to that one. But the ‘18, well that’s just routine maintenance.

    2nd gen picture thread

Yes i've seen it in person. But I also know of two guys who have no issues. Unfortunately, I know of more contact issue complaints than of no issue complaints. Another thing that I've had issues with, is the dakar springs have not been very good to me (installing on customer's Tacomas) with...

    Oil on spark plug threads?

To help anyone with the decision if they want to go through the process of resealing the spark plug tubes where the tube is pressed into the head: To date I‘ve resealed 39x 3URs, and non of them, not one, ever had any drivability issues from oil in the spark plug tube. Now, I will say that I’m...

    200 favorite Rock Sliders

I’ve got a pair of basically new ARB step rail/sliders that I would sell for significantly less than new. I’m over in Hickory if you’re interested.

    KO2 Wear

Front Caster 2.9±0.75 Front Camber 0.13±0.75 Front Toe (degrees) 0.24°±0.16° Front Toe (inches) 0.12±0.08" Here is factory specs, but it’s basically the same as I described, just organized a bit better. The 200 series platform is a great platform, but it’s not easy to modify it heavily...

    Shout Out to Cruiser Outfitters

The fun (and horror) of building 200s is that you get to see what other shops are, and are not capable off. I can honestly say, that of the 200s that come through me for their next build phase, the @cruiseroutfit ones are always done with real care and thought. I have never felt like I needed...

    suspension options after LRA install

Well, you can definitely be okay with firming up the back, and leaving the front alone. It’s the other way around, stiffer front and stock rear, that makes it less favorable. You end up getting a tail wagging thing going on at speed, sometimes. But for where you are at right now, and being as...

    suspension options after LRA install

I don’t think I would have said that, but yeah know… 208 200 builds, I can say that I’m still changing my views on what products are “better” than others. Allow me to give my current thoughts. The only 2725s I recommend is armored 200. Not skid plates and bumpers armor, small arms and...

    DIY 4.3 Re-Gear

That’s right. There’s a simple c-clip on the end of the splines. The opening of the c-clip need to be facing down. How I “feel” for it is that you to what @bloc said. Pull the cv out until it stops, and then turn 30° or so and pull again. If you are watching very carefully, you’ll eventually...

    $80/liter transfer case oil

I kinda forgot about this thread until I recently saw it again. 2008-2010 transfer cases use 75-90 gear oil. In 2010 sometime they switched some parts in the transfer case to brass. GL-4 and 5 gear oil typically has limited slip additives in it. Brass and limited slip additives don’t get...

Attn: Blue Onyx owners. Help requested.

My parents onyx blue (2018) is looking outstanding. Now, my dad knows how to wash a car. Dirt chargers in bottom of buckets, three different buckets to not get cleaned off dirt back into the paint. Different mitts for different areas. Electric blower to dry. So he probably just doesn’t create...

Long range 24 to 40 Gallon

Such a tough choice… 24 or 40. I spend hours thinking through with customers on which is right for them. I think there are a lot of variables and personal preferences that help someone make the right choice. They are fun to install though, serious though, I really enjoy installing them. I’m...

KDSS bolt style and corrosion condition comparison

Well said, anything is better than nothing. Sorry I’ve been away for some time @bloc. Been building, but now I take some of those builds and their owners overseas on adventures. So I’m more of a tour guide/mechanic-builder/security yahoo now.
