    CB High SWR Help

Looks like I got it figured out. The SWR dropped once I got a taller antenna that got well over the roofline. I think most of it is the 2' Firestick I had. But thank you for the help! Hearing that longer antenna's worked sent me in the right direction. I also made the change to a Cobra 75 wx...

    CB High SWR Help

I'm going to try out a longer antenna as well (4ft). There was a post mentioning getting it above the roof thats not on here now. Can't hurt to have two lengths. I've tried to find some good open spaces but I wouldn't be surprised if that a big part. Ill be out on the trail in a few days and...

    CB High SWR Help

I need a little help assessing whats up with my CB setup. I currently have a Uniden Pro 520xl connected to a 2 ft Firestick antenna on a Yodateq rear mount just above the rear right taillight. I ran it tuned for a long time (not the best idea) with a 4ft Wilson flex. Once that one broke I moved...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

This last weekend we found some dirt, and worked recovery for two Xterras. (The green one in fully locked and on 35" M/Ts). It was nice to get out after the snow thawed.

Finally got a post thaw trip in up to stampede pass. Made it a ways in until we hit a swift moving water crossing, and got stuck some. In all a good run. Fun with the Hella 500s on, which truthfully are mainly for the classic look and some extra light. The re-built platform in the back did...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

The snow was great up there, some friends and I were up there Saturday, same road. I think we saw you guys parked off in the trees, or at least what looked like some Land Cruisers. Looks like you found the really deep stuff! That place is beautiful in the snow.

The Stevens Pass area got a bunch of snow this weekend, so a friend of mine, his club buddy (Green Xterra) and I got out and enjoyed the fresh snow and a little snowshoeing. We ran into a first gen XTerra at the top that had gotten stuck and they camped the night (that was their plan anyway, but...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

The last two weekends we got out and enjoyed a little snow at Jack's Pass and explored the other side (Index-Galena Road). Found some cool camp spots, met some neat people, then washed the rig for the week. Nothing crazy, but nice to get out after a hectic couple weeks. Also tightened the...

Played with the dash colors yesterday. I changed the cluster and shifter to white LEDs from SuperbrightLEDs. looks good. I need to play with switching some of the other bulbs to LEDs since the original 74s are starting to burn out. The Glovebox and ash/coin tray are LED lights now too. I got a...

So, another update dump. Since it's summer the cruiser is getting used more and changed less. A quick roundup of the things done: -Painted and bolted up the hitch and put the spare back under the rig, leveled so its up and out of the way. -Found out two plastic boxes fit perfectly under the...

The color code is 100 Taupe which turned out to be a fairly good match. The steering wheel cover is some cheapo one from O'Reillys, I cant remember the brand, it has held up pretty well so far.

Yeah, I was really blown away by it. It is now up there on my list of tools to have. I will say, after this trip, my tool kit has started to evolve and get more organized and tailored to the vehicle.

With the spare tucked up and somewhat out of the way, My friends and I decided to get in a quick one night trip and actually explore the Umptanum ridge area. Pretty mild stuff, fairly easy, rocky dirt roads, that made for some nice drives with a view. And then... this happened... Coming up...

So, a little update. The Cruiser is back up and running after all the brake stuff. Turns out the bearings were way over packed and grease was being pushed out. With that all sorted the cruiser took the grand position as get away car for my wedding!! Even at the request of the Mrs. (She is a...

    Southern Oregon 80-100 series mechanic?

While not a cruiser place, Rogue Automotive helped me out while I was down in that area with some odd axle noises. It's on N Central Ave. Really great service.
