Hey Gang,
I have a 2003 100 series that needs the front CV axles replaced. Any recommendations on an affordable shop in Denver? Preferably on a budget. A good shade tree mechanic is ok with me.
I'm planning to go with rebuilt CVJ axles https://www.cvjreman.com/product-tag/9534/
Thanks.
Steve
Hi,
I have a set of 5 18" original OEM Alloy Wheels from my 2003 100 series Land Cruiser for sale. In good to very good condition with minimal dings, dents and rash. I also have 4 center caps available.
The wheels are located in the foothills southwest of Denver. Willing to meet anywhere in...
@MTNlivn - i had John's Sunroofs down on Santa Fe do the repair. They sourced a sunroof from a salvage vehicle and did the install. I think all told it was $650 ish. You could tell they manhandled the headliner a little bit but overall i felt they did a decent job. John's Sunroofs in...
Mine was sealed shut with black RV when I bought the truck. Looked sloppy but it worked - kept the water out. The cables and guides were rusted and the drains were clogged so that's probably why they sealed it up. I've since replaced the broken sunroof with one from a salvage yard and it...
Nice rig! Guessing by the pic that you're somewhere east-ish of Boulder and south of Longmont? Broomfield, Superior, Louisville? I second ditching the running boards. What did you end up doing with your WRX?
I ended up tying the fairlead bolts to the bumper support for lateral support. However, I agree it could stand to be beefed up. Looking forward to what you come up with. I think this could be a good collaborative project with an eventual spot in the FAQ. --Steve
Great write up @87warrior! Glad you were able to take pics of the install. I got laid off last week so I've been scrambling dealing with that -- I haven't had time to pull my bumper off and take pics and measurements. I should have more time next week.
@bamabrock If the 12k winch has standard mounting holes it should mount up to the TJM winch plate just fine. The limiting factor will be the width between the frame rails and the depth out to the bumper support. I would measure that space and compare to the dimensions of the winch before cutting.
I'll take some measurements of the cuts tomorrow. I'd love to hear some opinions on the structural integrity of what I've done. I know I've weakened the bumper support but I think I've more than made up for it with the winch plate and winch. I've bashed into some pretty serious stuff and it...
The bumper support is the black steel piece that spans the width of the truck under the plastic bumper "cover". You can see it in the first pic. I basically had to cut out the width of the winch plate to a depth that would accommodate the winch. I wanted to leave as much as I could to...
I bought this TJM winch plate from Summit Racing: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tjm-957mtt1581c then modified the bumper support to fit around the mounted plate and winch. The winch plate is sturdy as hell, very thick steel, and bolts right up to the existing frame rails.
This was...
@MGarland Ugh, I feel your pain. Been there in the exact same situation with my '96 Tacoma. I wish I took the check and then kept it. If you're thinking you might keep it, I have a rear bumper from a black 2003 that should match that you can have. Let me know if I can help.

@El Cid ... yeah it kind of fascinates me too. I got the impression that the SO and locals knew who the kids were but they just don't have the resources to do the investigative work to charge them with these crimes. There are also a rash of home break-ins in the local towns and people are...
@jamesg ... Good to hear from another Hwy 285 dweller! I agree. Been here since 1980 and the madness around the Front Range is getting to be a little more than I can stand. I'm thinking down south around Durango or Pagosa when we retire. I love Gunnison too. Maybe we'll see you around in...
