I am considering redoing the A/C in my 1987 Bronco II. I have a mechanic buddy who is certified to do Air conditioning. He has offered to price match or allow me to find the parts on line cheaply and will only charge me the labor & refrigerant costs. A couple of questions:
What parts, other...
Bad plug(s)?
If it's a case of faulty fuel ignition, could it be as simple as having a bad plug or two. When I find the time I will pull the plugs and check em out. I'm just wondering if this would cause the fuel to end up in the oil? anybody?
Dude, that's a pump on the frame rail? I've changed the filter out of there the last couple of times I did tune ups. The last time I got the feeling that the filters I had been using weren't the right ones. They just kinda rattle around in there. So, what do I have to worry about? What do I...
Nope, no hard cold starts just stinky oil. I can still smell the gas on my watch band! So, will faulty fuel rail pressure regulator and (or) leaky injectors cause me any serious problems (if these may be the problems)?
Just did an oil change on my 87 ford Bronco II... I had a bunch of oil dump down my sleeve as I was removing the filter. I couldn't help notice that that oil on my sleeve smells of fuel. What does this mean?
bearing
Your gonna have to get the rear output shaft out so that you can get a puller around both the front and rear bearings (and gears) on the rear output shaft... and you'll need to press it all back in too. So NO, you Can NOT do it with out splitting the case and getting the shaft out.
I bought a seal and race driver set from HF just to make sure I wouldn't mess the seals up. Like the colored ones here

,but I think you can get away with using a wooden block cut out of a 4x4 stud to drive them in...
A hired photographer or a mud rookie;) must have taken that pic, not an actual tech! The tech at MAF said that "which way does the clutch go" is one of the most, if not THE most common question he gets... Maybe they should start painting the words "engine side" on them instead of DT-075 on the...
zzzzzzzzz
We'll see about that. I might get the tranny back in and learn later that this flat clutch plate has a 3rd side or some BS like that;)
I feel a little better now. I was in such a hurry for a while. Now, I almost don't give a fig when it gets done... Just want it to be done right. I...
yep!
Called Man-a-fre (whom I bought the clutch from) today and confirmed it. The stinkin' clutch is in BACKWARDS. What a fn' surprise (yeah, I know) :flipoff2:. Some of you guys told me so. Spoke to some one in tech support, they were awesome. the guy actually went out and picked a...
Yeah I know what you mean. that just means some of us are getting older:D... That means that Calphi27 is actually about 25-27 and was born either in 82 or 80. Now that's weird! Nice semi-one-owner rig, dude!
yep tranny is still out. It will be out until I can sweet talk someone into helping me put it back in. I had put grease on ALL of those parts indicated by the FSM. The only thing is I didn't know how heavy to go. Should I really butter it up this next time? As far as the writting on the...
well...
Went at it for 3 hours after work... everyone was right, much, much quicker removing it than last time! It practically flew out! However, it looks as though the clutch is in right:confused: If the long side of that sleeve is suposed to face the tranny then it is in right. WTF!
The...
