All I want to say is that I had a great time!! But if it weren't for @Stepmurr scouting the area and having his 2008 GARMIN maps it would not have been the same trip . . . by a long shot. Even though we did have some rain we did have a fantastic Sunday and were able to take in some great...
Hey @Stepmurr . . . pick me up one of those passes on your way up . . . that web-page is still down . . .
Well it looks like Mt. Graham is going to be closed for awhile . . . and their talking years . . .
@Stepmurr , @Fuge , @wtmtnterror . . . this is the only names that indicated any interest on this run . . .
I suspect the online permit page should be back up by Monday evening . . . . . I will try then.
Ahhh, Guys . . . . it would seem that I have developed a loud 'tapping' sound coming...
@wtmtnterror ; what level of vehicular 'articulation' should someone expect from either of these side trips? What is the hike like from the base of the trail to the falls? How much washout are you having in the area?
Thanks for the official NF notice of termination of the closure @Stepmurr. I was told by the Alpine Ranger, Kiley, that they have been getting .5" to 1" every afternoon for the last week. Be sure your fishing licenses are current and for those of you that like MUD . . . you may be in luck.

Mt. Graham isn't in the cards this year guys
Kiley and William, at the Alpine Ranger Station, suggested Diamond Rock as a good campsite. Area was spared the Wallow fire and there are plenty of side runs off of FR276 and FR25.
Anybody have any favorite side trips in the area? . . . I'm all...
I am still holding out that the monsoonal flow will squelch the remaining hotspots and allow the lifting of restrictions for the remaining campsites.
My alternative is a day trip to Jack's Canyon and East Clear Creek (4°45'08.1"N 110°57'42.5"W). There is camping available at Jack's Canyon
The rain dances and prayers are paying off . . . containment is @ 73% for the Frye Fire . . . BUT . . . the images I have been seeing of the burn areas, 48K acres and counting, is quite disheartening. I am thankful to have had the opportunity of visiting the area last year.
Well, I am...
Sorry everyone . . . been putting off making any decisions. I spoke with a representative at the command center who stated that structures and campsites have been given priority protection. I will be making a follow up call this week to make a final determination.
With that said, the Alpine /...
Hey . . . Hey . . . was not inferring to taking down trees . . . there are some fallen trees that could use some policing . . . Oh my gosh . . . never entered my mind . . . :eek::eek::eek:
Thanks to @Stepmurr for posting up the site particulars and RV restrictions . . .
A chainsaw, or two, could open up some additional room . . . And if you're planning on bringing a trailer, I just want to remind you of the switchbacks and a fairly quick drop in elevation on the return trip . ...
From what I recall, the area had enough room for a dozen LC's with trailers . . . check with @Stepmurr because he has spent more time at that site . . .
