Hello,
Posted in workshops as well, but the truck forums get much more traffic.

Hello,
Just as the title says - I'm designing a garage, and I finally get to put in a lift. Going 2-post as space is a consideration, and most of my work will be wheel rotation, brakes, etc. - need the wheels accessible.
The cruiser is the tallest car I own. Others are an 89 911 and an 03...
I actually had two great conversations with Mike Goode and Mike Dadja. Dadja was a bit less expensive, a bit faster, and I vibed with him, so the truck will be going there.
I just moved here and I'm bringing my 85 '60 down. She's been sitting for a while, so my plan is to do a refresh on the gas tank, suspension, and AC system. I see a few names brought up:
- Dadja ("the man" but with a months-long wait?)
- Goode (Highly recommended from a couple of people)
-...
That's fair. Fortunately everything pre obd-II in New York is emissions exempt. Just safety now.
I'll post some interior and rust photos, then see about the ebay and Craigslist appraisals.
Thanks again.
I think it costs a percent of the reserve to list on eBay. Not sure. That could be an expensive proposition. For less than 10k I'll roll the dice on my friend babysitting even if not as lovingly as id prefer. Closer to 20 and id talk about moving it. Will try to get some detail pics.
Do your...
May be time to sell the beast. She's treated me very well, but my family sold their house where I used to store it, so I sent it to my friend's place in South Carolina. He was providing love, but he has three kids, one of whom was diagnosed with cancer (she's in remission now and doing great)...
More stuff:
Stock wheels (two chrome, two white): $100 obo
Crawler: $20
6-ton (I think) jack stands, set of four: $100 obo
Wheel chocks: $20
4-ton jack: $50
Getting rid of the parts collection. All of it is on the east end of Long Island. Happy to help with delivery, but I don't want to ship.
Jerry Can Carrier (perfect for expeditions): $50 obo
3 Jerry Cans: $25 each, or all three for $50
Rolling Seat: $20 obo
Stock front and rear...
It was definitely the starter. A friend showed me where to whack it (that doesn't sound good) and it fired right up. New starter inbound from cruiser dan. I'll take a look at rebuilding this one for next time.
Many thanks.
Beautiful truck and great story. I'd disagree with the post about them being just another truck. I'd never heard of fj60s until I was a teenager. And I still became obsessed. The lines, the capability - these things rock.
Starter seems likely, although I will do the suggested cable checking and cleaning. Dumb question, but wheres the damn starter? And what's a good source for oem? Cruiser dan?
So the plot thickens a bit. The problem appears to be something other than the battery. It seems like the battery has a full charge. So when the truck is running, the alternator appears to be charging it. If it were a ground cable, wouldn't the electrical connection be spotty?
When I try to...
Just pulled the truck out of an extended hibernation. Battery was unhooked. Expected it to be dead, and when I reconnected it and cranked, I actually got a bit of a kick to the starter. Not enough to turn over, but something.
Then tried to jump the truck. Here's the stupid part (yes, all of...
