I ended up in a nasty accident where I was t boned by a drunk driver. Been piecing it back together.
Ran it at the 2019 gambler500 and had a blast with the use compensator boys.(20 foot stretch lincoln towncar on 54 inch mud terrains and 5 feet of lift)
Truck was just getting fixed, had the...
Silly question, would just the stripped body be up for grabs? I was t boned by a drunk driver and need to either swap the whole body. Or locate a doner body to cut some pieces out off
Hey bobm
Do you sell rear body mounts as a pair or individually? I am in need of a drivers rear and front floor pans for the dumpster fire that is my fj55
For the moment I just run it as it is, someone put alot of effort and money into it so I enjoy is bombing over roundabouts and just general tomfoolery on the trails nothing major. The spring mounts are outboarded so I have been throwing around the idea of finding some stock chevy springs and...
Well its about as far from stock as you can get. But for a free truck(i made a thread awhile back about it) I really can't complain
More chevota than anything, it does need a new sm465 manual and that is proving to be rather hard to find in central oregon. i am about to throw my spare turbo...
Thanks everyone, so far the free99 fj55 has been a trip. Had title problems, still have the most helacious noises from the trans. Not even working on the rest of the electrical or rust.
But its the small little projects that i can scratch off the list like this one. Hopefully it can help...
All i am dping is adding a overhead console to the roof. By removing the dome light and the rearview mirror you can attach a strip of metal between the mounts. Then using a few bolts bolt a overhead console to it. I will take more photos when I take it all back apart over the next few days
And now the wiring, I have the pinout somewhere for the consoles trip computer. However I am just going to tackle the lights.
Seperating the wiring is pretty simple. Green and purple are the computer, orange white and black are the lights
I tied the grounds together and snuck a ushaped...
Well I finally got around to doing it, there was only one example of this procedure I could find and it was not super detailed on the wiring and thats what I want to have working
What I did was I took a overhead console from 1999 Suburban with the trip computer. I wanted one with the temp...
This is the cheapest running and driving fj40, i priced it to move it so I can get my daily fixed. Will take cash off if you have a nv4500 with t case or a sm465 with a np205
Asking 3500 for mud members.
Located in bend oregon
craigslist add here 1970s fj40

So before anything
She runs, she...
Well for now its get it running and driving. Iron out the major kinks.( like a bolt for the starter)
Actually one of the projects on the list is welding new shock mounts onto the axle. And I have to roll the old dana 70 out since it is hollering and put my rebuilt 14bff under it after I get...
Yes it has had alot of money and time put into her. I bet if I had a hand drawn wiring diagram from when they installed the harness it would make alot more sense. But the butt connectors or lack there of, and the electrical tape, and lack there of, do spin a tale of someone who threw it together...
So progress report,
Went through and starting with the lights, labled and documented every wire and where they "intermingled"(won't insult people by saying splice, this is janky) with the new wires from the harness.
And a funny problem that cropped up was the electrical gauge was not working...
Well the title says 70, and the dash(minus the panels) has every factory switch present. Most are not hooked up so i am going to disconnect each toggle switch under the dash and rewire to use the factory switches.
Currently the running lights are hooked up correctly and the turnsignals work...
Gonna have to hold off on tailgate repair and fix the electrical........
Hard to drive when all you have backlit is a semi "functional" gas gauge. I almost thought they wired a tach cause it bounces with the rpms, then realized the ground is so bad that is it constantly shutting off
Luckily it...
Well luckily we can roll the window up without it going in the track
So I was able to get the latches freed up after drilling the rusted screws out. My bro cody did the honors of drilling since he is a airplane mechanic Windows went up and down Just fine the p.o. did a great job on the wiring...
Thanks for the tip, luckily when I roll up the window its completly out side the truck and since I work for 10 barrel there is a ton of beer in the beer fridge(just traded 2 six packs for a rockstar mini fridge actually)
When i get off I'll try not to mess the access panel up, hopefully it...
