I would see the needle rise rather quickly, although not instantaneously, up to max.
But I just got it back from AJ (@aljollano ). He redid my rear main seal, which ultimately failed after a previous poor installation, my thermostat, and the fan clutch. He did great work and I'm very glad to...
I'm here now. Drive was ok. I love my wagon, but I have an intermittent heat spike that causes me grief.
I've also got oil leaks that I want to resolve. Then I can start focusing on other things like sound dampening and fixing other little things.
AJ, l'll give you a call.
Hi,
I'm moving to Austin this week and wanted to introduce myself. I have two cruisers: a 1988 62 with a 2H and a 1969 40 with a 2F. The wagon is my daily driver and I'll be driving it from NC to TX later this week. The 40 is at a friend's in MO, getting some fine tuning before I (hopefully)...
I've got clutch/transmission issues in my 62 (2H, H55T). Is there a recommendation for a place closer to Raleigh/Durham?
I'm actually in Fayetteville.
After playing around with adjustments at the pedal, I took it to a local shop and they think maybe a spring has come lose from the friction...
@krzyabncanuck are you still around where I could hobble my way out to Raeford?
I'm pretty sure I have an adjustment issue, but I'm wary that once it's adjusted properly, a more substantial issue will come to light, like needing a booster or MC/SC, even though all three of those were replaced...
Here's my fork movement. Looks like only about 1/2" movement. So it seems to me that the clutch pedal is not disengaging the clutch enough to change gears successfully.
Does that sound right? So now I have to adjust the slave pushrod, the booster pushrod, and the pedal.
The fact that it moves...
I've shifted clutchlessly before, but not from a stop. If I started in 1, I'd have to get moving immediately, no? And can't get into R easily, which is a problem parking.
Yeah, the master and slave could be bad, I suppose, but they are only 4 years old and are Aisin. I got them from Cruiser Outfitters.
The fork does move when I press the clutch.
So, the Tcase was in N. I put it into H2 and with the slave dropped and trans in 1, the starter caused the car to lurch. That means the clutch is good.
Reinstalling the slave put a lot of preload on the clutch and now, I'm back to inability to get it into gear. So it seems to me like it's just...
I think my issue is pedal/pushrod adjustment. I dropped the slave and the clutch worked (tried starting in 1 and it lurched). I bled and reinstalled the slave and doing so put a lot of preload on the clutch fork.
Pedal feels good and seems to get good booster assist, so I think my way forward...
Still no power with the slave dropped. I need to (find and then) pull the inspection cover to check the clutch, but it looks like that's the problem, right?
So where do I find the inspection cover?
The latter. Shifter is not stuck, can go through the gates with no issue when engine is off. When running, slides into 1 and 2 with no issues but needs jiggling to get into 3, 4, 5, and R.
Just dropped the slave and still no power to the wheels. That indicates to me that the clutch needs to be...
Pedal feels no different than ever. It does have a booster and there's a really light squeak, but I figured that was the pivot. Multiple pumps on the clutch while engine is off do not make it terribly difficult to press, though. However, maybe a loose alternator belt is preventing the vacuum...
Does anyone know of a reputable mechanic or shop in eastern NC? I live in Fayetteville and have some clutch/transmission issues with my 62 series wagon with a 2H/H55F.
I just posted in the DieselTech forum what my issue is, but the bottom line is that all of a sudden I can't get the...
I have a 2H/H55F in a 12v, US spec 1988 J62 body. It's been my daily driver for about 7 years now.
The other day, about 5 miles into my 7 mile drive to work, I had a bit of trouble getting into gear. I could get into N, but it didn't want to go into 3 or 2. Eventually, it worked and I got to...
