    starting problem...slow electricity

I turn the key to start......wait a few seconds.....then, most of the time, it starts. After it runs and stops, sometimes 1, 3 or 4 or 30 tries and it starts. Maybe it's worse when it's humid. I just don't understand the time delay. I am replacing the starter again. Sometimes a jump start...

Caster correction - bushings or plates for ~3 degrees?

It could be that my pull to the right discussed in a previous thread, may be due to a caster correction issue. Never really was an issue till some taller skinnier tires. Anyway, alignment shows 0.3 deg caster and I need ~3. I have yet to discuss with Slee, but that is next since they are...

pulls to the right...still pulls to the right....still pulling to the right

I did solve a pulling problem on this truck last summer by rebuilding the FR caliper. Got new tires and noticed a pull to the right. Maybe it was pulling some with the old tires, but I wasn't as concerned then. Replaced tie rod, front right caliper, adjusted bearing RF, swapped new tires...

5.5in vacuum at 10,000 ft, I need more for the booster?

I replaced the brake booster and high speed braking is amazing. Low speed is terrible, especially when starting cold. This 80 is reading 5.5in of vac and there has been no loss of power or anything weird going on with the motor. My 74 40 with a booster is at 4in of vac and works like a charm...

    Stock yellow headlight bezel?

My new favorite 40. It's a 74 and the yellow looks original. No repaint anywhere, all original red paint for sure. I have never seen this combo. Could it be yellow from the factory?

Obd 0750 0758 after solenoid replacement

not sure where to look now....tranny works fine and then I lose down shift when it gets warmed up. I replaced all solenoids, filter, lots of tranny fluid - not all as it looked good. Fluid level correct. While driving I clear the code and lose 2 gear completely, if I am in it when I clear...

    1f carb on a 2f at 10,000ft

I'm putting a 2f in a 74. I'm thinking that using the original intake and carb from the 1f may work fine, especially since more carb is not necessarily the answer at 10,000 ft above sea level. Also, the older carb may be more adjustable as well. I'm putting split headers on it which I may...

    4speed clutch assembly in a 3speed 74?

I'm putting a 2f in a 74 and the original clutch fork is broke along with the throw out bearing carrier. I have a complete clutch setup for the 2f. Can I just use the flywheel-to-clutch fork assembly from the 2f, in the 3speed bellhousing? The fork dims look right on. Seems to cheap to be...

    nokian rotiivas on the lexus

I just ordered 4 265 75 r16's nokian rotiivas for the lx450. $160 a piece delivered from tire easy. Another 160 for mount, balance, and alignment here in town. I will report back in a couple weeks, with, hopefully, a raving review of these tires, raving good that is. yes, they seem tiny and I...

to rebuild or not to rebuild

I picked up a low mileage 2f to put in my 74fj40. I pulled the head and there is absolutely no ridge at the top of the cylinders. My plan was to replace the rings and bearings to show my 11 yr old son how this motor really works. My gut says why not just put the new head gasket in and go...

    For Sale  77 fj40 in colorado - $2600

I bought this to put a 74 body on, but I can't bear to tear up two 40's for one, so somebody with a tub is in luck. I am just now driving this thing around and so far, except for headlights, it seems like everything works. It shifts real smooth and crawls like it should in low. Previous...

    For Sale  77 fj40

$2,600 I bought this to use the motor, frame, drive train and put a 74 body on it. I'm going to put a motor in the 74 so this project could be yours. The guy I bought it from put most of the miles on it and was very attached to it so I let him keep one back door that had a zappa for president...

97 heater core hard line attachment

The 97 has a tapered o ring between the core and the hard line from the core to the engine compartment. If anyone has done a 97, let me know if the o ring is supposed to be inside the core tube hole or between the flanges of the core and the hard line.. I'm tempted to just weld it on and...

Can I replace heater core without discharging AC?

I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but I am hopeful that there is another way. After putting my new motor in, the heater core pooped out, huge bummer. So far $175 to discharge and recharge the AC which I never ever use at 10,000 ft above sea level, so, is there another way besides ditching the...
