ok, what seems to me to be a dumb question. I am replacing the rear axle seals on my 73 40. I removed the pinion shaft pin and expected the shaft to come right out. Ok, I am a Chevy guy so bear with me. The shaft is not moving, even lightly tapped it from the topside with a hammer and no go...
Are we doing the charity auction again at the meeting Thursday next week? I have been traveling the last couple meetings, but plan to be there next week.
Since the F motor is basically a Chevy 235, can you use any electronic distributor built for a 235? Such as one of these two by MAXX? It appears the oil pump fitting will work. Anybody use these? I especially like the one with the coil in the cap. Any input would be appreciated...
I am looking for a set of 4 or 5 OEM 15" wagon wheels that came stock on FJ40 or FJ60, prefer painted, not chrome, but will consider chrome. I attached a picture of the wheel I am looking for. Of the course they were chrome or white, not blue. Thanks!
Where do you find an FSM? Need one for a '73 FJ40. I saw a couple of sources mentioned in some old posts on here, but when checking them out I had no luck.
Thanks!
1973 stock FJ40. I am getting a clunking noise coming from the rear diff when in reverse. No issue at all going forward. I put it up on jackstands and ran it in reverse and I guess because there was no weight on the axle it didn't make the noise. I drained and replaced the diff fluid and...
You know how it goes. A 6-week project to replace a weak motor with one not so weak. Well I have the engine out so I need to clean up the engine and paint it. Since I have the engine out I need to paint the engine bay. Since I am doing that maybe replace the fenders, how about the quarter...
FJ40, Build date 09/72, F Motor. Anyone have one of these? I left my second one in a block I sold. Not sure it is called an oil pick up fitting. One goes in the block, the other into the oil pickup and then connects to the hoses that run to the filter. I attached a picture. I got one from...
Original F Motor from 1973 FJ40. Ran before I took it out. I have video of it running before I took it out. Compression read #1-130 #2-120 #3-120 #4-125 #5-110 #6-120. I have pictures of the compression tests. Did not leak oil or blow smoke. Not sure of mileage. Guessing around...
Anybody interested in trading a 72 fj40 tank for a 73 fj40 tank? The 72 tank is in great condition. I have been using it in my 73 for the last 2 years. No rust. It is a different fit and need to get the correct tank in there.
I have 73 FJ40 needing fenders. Who on here has used the re-pop fenders that Cool Cruisers and Cruiser Corps sells? Issues, problems installing? Quality of metal used? What's the good and bad?
