Well, as far as that picture, I took that little piece out and put it back in (i believe the correct way) when I put the carb back together along with a new seal.
Two updates. Last night, I drove to Wal Mart (about 5 minutes away) and picked up some starter fluid just in case I needed it...
Dry. I replaced the AAP insides when I rebuilt the carb.
It's moved from about the upper level of the normal operating point on the sight glass to just below the sight glass in the bowl in about 4 hours.
1981 Pickup...stock 22R with Aisin Carb. Was having issues over the weekend with hard starts...so cleaned up the carb as best I could and still had problems. Watched the gas in the bowl leak out. So.....rebuilt the carb Sunday Night/Last night. Got it all mounted up tonight and runs...
Yeah...I saw that place. Seemed like an option for sure. Didn't see any prices on there website...what does a bed run? Did you also get the tail gate?
Just curious....maybe I need to give them a call :)
How easy was the swap? Electrical and bolting it up? Did you use the Tacoma tranny/tcase or the original?
Just asking as I just picked this up and thinking about it being my DD. Well...in all honesty, it is my DD as I sold my '94 2wd pickup in 20 minutes yesterday on CList.:D I guess I...
Looks fantastic...nice work. Glad to see it completed and on the road. That is an accomplishment many don't finish.
Btw...in the pic, is it just the driver's side headlight working? or a worklight shining into it?
Nice work. Actually, surprised to see it out in the snow :) But after a couple of years, I wouldn't be able to wait until spring either.
Congrats again to getting the thing moving on its own again. How many people start only to stop with everything in pieces. Way to go in getting it all...
I've got several buddies that are engineers and they tend to over analyze things. Now don't get me wrong and no offense to anyone.....in many applications, it is a very good trait to have. Just when it comes to buying a $10 hot glue gun from wal-mart, I think trial and error is a better use of...
If you go with Trex decking...check craigslist for some deals. They don't pop up often, but I've seen some good deals. If you can't afford trex or something like it, I'd go hardscape because of the constant upkeep of wood.
What a great engine to use....I had a 90 LS400 that was bulletproof. Sure they had a few little issues (power steering leaking on the alternator), but if the proper maintenance schedule was kept, those things went forever. The power was incredible and the fuel economy wasn't all that bad...
Are you an engineer?
Just seems like your over analyzing a $20 purchase. No offense, but just get a basic one. I've got one that has a high and low setting. The low melts the glue, but it doesn't stay melted for a long enough time to set the item in the glue...if that makes sense. Both of...
The only issue with MDF is that the edges want to suck up the paint faster than the surface, unless you sand them down really smooth. I guess the white glue tape would work well to cover up the edge. Go for it.
I think that the unibomber drove an fj40 :)
Looking good on the rebuild. Hope you have it ready for when the snow melts and the mud thaws...I'm sure you're going to take it muddin the first chance you get.
Love the gas tank. I guess it won't rust like the stock tank :)
Looking good. Nothing like driving your restoration for the first time out of the garage on its own power.
Do you have the exhaust hooked up? If not, I bet that thing was loud for your neighbors.
Making great progress! Almost there. As with every project, always seems like those little things at the end take the longest and go up against all of the obstacles.
You need to move further south...wouldn't have to worry about your sewer freezing!! I must say...those people ice fishing...
I have the top half of an engine that still has the intake and exhaust manifold hooked up to it. If you need it, I'd be willing to sell it to you...just shipping might kill the deal. Came off an engine that was running...just not real well so I have no idea if it is warped etc etc.
I'd agree with spike that kilz works well. I'd definitely get the water based....much easier to clean up. If you don't really care about the smell or the clean-up phase...go with oil-based.
