Eldorado Canyon Run April 1st 2017

Eldo was always a trail that offers a challenge to everyone. It is now even more so. Do we see some caution tape across part of the trail? Nice '80. Was that rig on Rubithon last year? Looks familiar with a busted front trunion on caddy headed out...

Third annual Cruiser Gold Rush - 2016: Back To Gold Lake For a Third Year! :NorCal:

I consulted notes in the rig. We camp at Snake Lake often and a full strength machine is 147.050 pl 77.0 From Johnsville/ Plumas Eureka area south to the Buttes and parts of Henness Pass. Most of Gold Valley. Notes indicate "Oregon Peak' Good solid commo along the crest. Also the...

Third annual Cruiser Gold Rush - 2016: Back To Gold Lake For a Third Year! :NorCal:

good luck with those hong kong fooey HTs. price point is good. nice audio but an HT is an HT. Helpful if your mobile rig has x band repeat. Nice for relative distance, but to hit the GL area machines need 50 watts and an external antenna. good luck. I am a yeasu fan.

Third annual Cruiser Gold Rush - 2016: Back To Gold Lake For a Third Year! :NorCal:

IIRC there are several 2m machines in the area. One near Quincy, others on Fredoner peak in honey lake valley. The high level Mt. Rose 147.150 pl 123 is a good coverage machine. Also from up top on the ridge, between jameson and the buttes LO, there is a high sierra machine and can get the...

Yes, correct. Recall driving thru that tight squeeze and you were on foot on driver side of trail and reached for the camera as we drove past. Small world! We also had a good time running with the UA guys, even scoring some swag.

Third annual Cruiser Gold Rush - 2016: Back To Gold Lake For a Third Year! :NorCal:

After our group delivers the special kids to hawley lake we will exit via gold lake, so if you see a desert tan CJ8 with matching pack mule trailer, come say hey and we'll crack a cold one. As a jeep guy I really enjoyed Rubithon couple weeks back-- but was in a FJ45LV to blend in, LOL. (got...

Third annual Cruiser Gold Rush - 2016: Back To Gold Lake For a Third Year! :NorCal:

The trail from Graeagle via Johnsville to the A Tree to Hawley Lake is not a real challenge. Low range is all thats needed. Amazing, sweeping views. There are a number of stock pick ups we use to haul in the luggage, so if a bone stock truck is doable, anything is. From Hawley Lake, one may...

HUGE thanks to Eric and everyone else to make this an amazing event. STILL nursing skeeter bites. Ugh. We were held up three times by different rigs all breaking the RF grunion bearing. The last one climbing out Caddy Sunday afternoon. That was fun. But it is what it is. Please carry...
