    What to cook tonight ?

Pounded some pork chops flat tonight. Kept just under 140 degrees before resting. Baked potato and a slice of avocado. All with Himalayan sea salt. Light Pinot Noir. Made some extra for a sandwich tomorrow with cheese, spring greens avocado and home made pickle. Maybe a touch of mustard.

    Heating up while climbing uphill

Sometimes a little piece of crap in your carb can cause a lean mixture. Go up hill it partially blocks an orphace. point it downhill and shut off the engine and it moves away So you’re back to normal until the next steep up hill.

Just a comment on the instant coffee for backpacking. Douwe Egbert from the Netherlands is the best I’ve found.

Is olive oil and cotton balls a good fire starter? vs pine needles?

    1. Find some cotton blue jeans that need to be thrown out. 2. Get an Altoids can and cut pieces of blue jeans to layer in the can. 3. Close the full can and use a knife or Drill to make a small hole in the top of the can. 4. Heat in A 350 degree oven until all of the cloth is well...

    San Diego, Socal Smog

You probably wouldn’t get past the visual. Ca requires all smog equipment to be in place. One of the reasons that CARB compliant CA rigs bring the big bucks.

    Costway Jerry Can

Coleman Surplus has unused 1950s jerrycans that I’ve been very happy with. some surface rust but true NATO spec. Interiors are unused and sealed by the cap. Cost is less than 1/2 of the current NATO cans.

    Ground Beef

You can make green chili stew with ground beef but if you do you’ll need to make a very high quality stock to get a good mouth feel. I’ve had a good one in Deming, NM but they used pieces of chuck. The stock is what made it though. Can combine it with other ground meats or sausage to make...

Builds fj60 going to EV FJ45

Why use a transmission? If you use a Tesla dual motor set up you would only have to work on the axles. Trust me, there is a bunch of torque available.

    Just a heads up.

N95 masks are not available except for hospital folks etc. kn95 masks from China may or may not be as advertised. So the people who test the US n95 masks tested the kn95s and created an approved list. So if you have been wanting some n95s these are running about 98%. Search for us approved...

    Storing gas power equipment

War damn eagle, Thanks for the tip on the Sea Foam. I always run my carbs dry on small engines and add cut off valves if they don’t have them. The Coleman ones work great. Some of the carbs like Honda have a drain which may be good to leave open if the cutoff leaks.

    Fj60 overheating when driving

What SteveH said. One of the functions of fuel in an ice is to cool the engine. When there is not enough fuel to air the engine overheats potentially melting pistons etc. if there is gunk in the carb it can be sucked up into a jet causing a lean mixture condition. If it is only present at...

    Fj60 overheating when driving

This could also be a lean mixture problem. After 30 or 40 years there may be an accumulation of junk that blocks or partially blocks jets or air bleeds. This is not uncommon especially when using gas containing etoh.
