Paul,
Do you have a pic?
Poser,
Yes. I have my original T-case and put in a 76' axle with disc brakes on it. The bolt pattern on my old drive shaft is not the same as the one to the new axle.
Cheers,

I swapped my old carbed 350 for a Vortec 5.7 from a 1500 Silverado. Did my own wiring harness. Keep in mind I have a 4 speed (SM465) and i do wish i had a 5th gear which would help my MPH since it is sometimes a daily driver as well as my wheeler. I don't drive over 65mph and I get ~15mpg...
Thanks
Gents,
Thanks for the info and sorry for the late thanks!
I'm not going to tear apart my third member to replace the flange. I'm thinking more along the line of repalacing the front part of my front driveshaft and having it cut/replaced with the correct '76 pattern and rewelded...
I have a Vortc 5.7 in my 70' FJ40 and my only wish is that I put a NV4500 as opposed to my SM465. The overdrive gear would have been awesome. It will help a bit with gas mileage too. I love the SM465 though but have considered the swap to the NV4500.
Cheers,
Can the 70 front axle shaft mount to a 76 axle? I replaced my axle for the disc brakes a while back and then have been gone for a while (Iraq:crybaby:) and didn't know if I needed to get a newer flange to mount to the 76' axle. Is the bolt pattern different?

If anyone knows the...
Might be a bit late for me to getmy 2 cents but I have a 70 FJ40 w/ a Vortec 5.7l and an SM465 and I dd it to and from work and I wish I had a 5th gear. My SM465 is a bit noisy but it's pretty old but still shift real well.

I moved close to Savannah, I'm interested in getting together with some other cruiserheads. When and Where are your meetings. I have a 70' FJ40.
Thanks in advance..
Cooling Update
Finally got off my :censor: and started figuring things out.
I decided NOT to move the motor back 3" (for now). I decided to move my rad ofrward as far as possible and trim my Traurus fan. I also grinded down where my old clutch fan attached. I went to my local parts place...
I just bought a E2000 for $116 and a lifetime warranty from a local supplier. The maker of the pump was AIRTEX, seems like a nice quality part. Do you know the size of the fittings coming out of the motor (supply and return). I know the tube sizes but trying to figure out the fitting sizes...
Im going to try to keep my serp belt set up. Im still not running the compressor or the PS.. no need right now. I have thought about a york along time ago but never followed through with all the research I did... then I decided to do the swap..What the hell was it thinking;) .
I was trying...
Fussy,
Did you pull off all your surp pulleys and replace them or what? Can you expound on "old Stuff"?
Basically, did you take your old stuff and put it on the vortec?
