    Builds 1975 FJ45-Running Rebuild

The cruiser and I have been busy with firewood, put in a wood burner at home for heating so be scavenging up all the good wood I can find from work. Being a bit picky at there is lots of plantation pine but going after the Douglass fir, Kanuka (tea-tree) and other native/better firewood that has...

    Builds 1975 FJ45-Running Rebuild

Been a busy start the the year in Hawkes bay. Cyclone Gabrielle hit us in feb which caused major damage with 12 bridges lost in the region and 2m of flooding at work. My house and cruiser were safe but the road was flooded for a few days. Got $10m+ of roading repairs to do at work so enough to...

    Builds 1975 FJ45-Running Rebuild

Haven't posted any pictures for ages, truck has been running well but decided to add a tip deck. New sub-frame at the back and decent hinges Scissor ram with 2t tipping, works well off the 24v hydraulic pump Added a wireless winch remote which does save plugging the wired remote in...

    Kiwi Build FJ45 - 12HT

Looks like you have a good base to work on, less rust than mine. Only issues with warping from sand blasting will be the bonnet and roof, my sandblasting guy just left the bits he was worried about and I used a stripper wheel.

    FJ45LV in New Zealand

I ended up selling it to a mate in Christchurch after I finished uni. Assume it still sitting in that same spot in the picture unfortunately.

    Builds 1975 FJ45-Running Rebuild

12Ht is running well, great power for the hills and is using 10-11l/100km which is good. On another note I have learned to use nylock nuts on my body mounts as both bolts dropped out of the front mounts and the left mount disappeared. Luckily the right was still there but the side step...

    Builds 1975 FJ45-Running Rebuild

About 800km done so far on my road trip. From Napier up to lake Waikaromoana, out to east cape then up to Ohope in the Bay of Plently. Camping spot for the first night. First major issue was with my mates bj73 after he drove up from Christchurch, leaking rear axel seal with turned into loose...

    HJ 47 Engine conversion

Has been done before, have a search for a build thread on here and have a read. A 12ht swap is much easier considering you have a hj47, check my signature for a link to my 12ht build.

    1984 bj42 colour help

Your best bet would be to take a piece into a decent paint shop and just get it matched. Like the inside of the windscreen wiper motor cover which shouldn't of faded.

    Builds 1975 FJ45-Running Rebuild

Decided to sort my spare tyre out, after looking at smaller options I ended up making a full size spare fit, 33 on a 15x10 rim. Removed the small cross brace that a normal spare would sit against and trimmed the top edge of the diagonal support to match the bottom edge. A 33 hits nicely...

    Builds 1975 FJ45-Running Rebuild

Got my winch sorted, shaft made up along with a lever. Any got my shiny cert plate which makes my truck road legal along with a wof. Updated my registration but still have to sort out RUC km. Cert plate is a bit wrong as it says 80 series brakes and diffs even though it's a mix of 60 and...

    Builds 1975 FJ45-Running Rebuild

Winch is back in after lengthening my winch shaft. Has to make it three sections again with another bearer block. Ended up making up a section with 55 series steering column parts and uni's. Worked well with a much better spline and the shaft is two piece and can be taken apart in the middle at...

    Builds 1975 FJ45-Running Rebuild

Cheers, been looking forward to finishing my 45. Talked the the cert guy this morning and he is happy with the bits I have fixed although the driveshaft loop was a bit big but is fine. Most of the paperwork is done and cert plate will be ordered for fitting when the steering shaft is sorted...

What did you do on your 70 series today?

Picked my new 70 up and figured out all the issues: -Hole in the radiator -Alternator not charging -Rear brakes are junk, but front are good -Clutch is stuck to the flywheel On the plus side the engine runs really well, lockers and 4x4 all work as they should. Anyone know how to get the...

    Builds 1975 FJ45-Running Rebuild

After picking the new 70 up and doing a few things on the on Sat I thought I should sort the cert list out. Made a new drive shaft loop, nz cert rules. Welded to the cross member and not going anywhere now. Taken the spring off the steering damper and put spring washers on the engine...

What did you do on your 70 series today?

After 2 years without owning at 70 series I bough another one. SWB 13BT with cable lockers. Not pretty to look at but will make a good 4x4 club truck. Be interesting to find its faults tomorrow when I pick it up.
