I suppose I shouldn't really comment on the FJ60 but my my HJ60 has 350,000 on it and whenever a mechanic sees it they just say "its barely even worn in, you'll get another 300,00 out of it easy". They are designed to just keep on going and going and going, as far as I can tell you would need a...
Thanks Guys
Thanks heaps for all the nice stuff you guys have been saying. :)
Hi CREEKER
yeah the fridge is powered by the second battery, I've run the wire under the carpet and then into the space behind the fridge draw. At the moment I've left it long enough to stay plugged in when you...
Hi Guys
I haven't posted anything for ages and so thought it was about time I put up some pictures of the Interior mods I've made to my HJ60. We'd been travelling around with just a mattress in the back and the rear seats out, but then we had a baby and so I had to try and work out how on earth...
Clyde" after the Orang Utan in the Clint Eastwood Movie 'Any which way but loose'. Theres a scene where Clint says "Right Turn Clyde" and Clyde sticks his arm out of the right window and punches the biker. We drove clockwise around Australia's coastline a few years ago and whenever we got to a...
I've made something similar to this for my 60, Roller drawers and fridge in the back, then rear seats fold down and 2 panels sit on top, works really well. I've also fabbed up a couple of fold up extensions behind the front seats that pop up when you fold the front seats forward, adds another...
I've been trying to do this same adjustment to my 85 60. I can get the lock nut loose no problems but the adjusting screw seems to turn about 1 revolution in any direction nice and easily then it gets really really tight and hard to turn. Is this right? do I just need to be a bit less of a pussy...
Hi guys just bought an 300w inverter for the 60 to run a laptop etc. Any suggestions on where to permanently mount it? is there any reason you couldn't put one under a seat? heat problems etc.?
Cheers
I know the discussion has moved on a bit but going back to your initial post, I went around australia in a pretty much stock 60 with 31x10.5x15 BFG AT's and the only time we came even close to getting stuck was once in really deep soft sand and once in really wet mud (nearly ended up driving off...
Hey Macca
That would be great. thanks heaps:cheers:
I've actually managed to get it out now after much fiddling and then just plain heaving, but I'd love to get a copy of the manuals.
There is a frightening amount of rust in the damn thing, pulled it out and just thought Oh no. what have I...
Hey Guys
I've got an 85 High roof 60 with a factory sunroof (australian). Its getting pretty rusty (along with the rest of the car!!) and I want to take it out, grind/ respray etc. and then put it back. Does anyone have any experiences taking one out or know where theres instructions on how to...
That looks fantastic!
been trying to raise the cash to move from 31' to 33'. Now I'm gonna have to sell something else so I can afford to regear and get 35's!!
The Air conditioner in my HJ60 has never worked, I think all of the gas went a long time ago, however the pump itself works fine. I've become quite used to not having airconditioning so I'm thinking of converting it into an air compressor something like the "Endless Air" unit.
Does anyone...
I've just taken my 85 HJ60 to the local suspension place and been told my front and rear sway bar bushes are dead (fair enough, they're bloody old). They want to charge me a horrid amount of money for labour to fix them, but as far as I can tell its just a matter of pulling the sway bar off...
I've been running 35 front and 45 rear for the last 6 years. The half assed theory was that the higher pressure in the rear was for the extra weight of roof racks, roller draws, camping gear etc.
Now I think about it though, the bullbar and engine probably weigh a teeny bit more than that...
I've got an 85 60 series with the 4 litre 2H motor and an auto transmission and from my experience I'd say they're fantastic. I've taken it around Australia twice (on some pretty remote, terrible roads) without the slightest hiccup. It had 230,000 when I got it and its at 350,000 now (diesel...
Got a tyre question for you all.
I've currently got 31x10.5r15 BFG AT's on my cruiser. They've been great but are getting more like racing slicks than off road tyres after 6 years and going round Australia twice.
Been looking at 2 options
replace the BFG ATs 2 at a time (the damn things cost...
Hi Guys
this could be a really stupid question, but I've searched heaps and can't find a simple answer anywhere. What are the stock measurements for clearance on a 1985 HJ60 Sahara? I'm trying to work out what actual lift I've got on my truck.
My trucks measurements are:
Centre of hub to...
Now you tell me!
I wish I'd known the damn thing was worth something!!
Had one sitting in my shed for ages, finally chucked it in the bin about 3 weeks ago:doh:
Oh well!
Seems like its my lucky day!
just a quick follow up to earlier discussion, I couldn't get the bolt out of the thermostat housing (much to my disgust) so thought bugger it I'll just get a new thermostat housing, very gently undid the bolts holding it to the engine and worked it loose.
Much...
