It's been awhile, but I'm getting ready to start on my '76 project again. I purchased a complete Gozzard body, but have lost the drawings for the body mounts. In particular the drawing for the mid mount that needs to be fabricated. Anyone have pictures of what they have done? Anything is...
I purchased a complete Gozzard tub last year, and all I can say is it is incredible workmanship. I've worked on aluminum aircraft for the past 30 years and was leaning towards the Aqualu tub because I understand aluminum. At the last minute I opted for Gozzard and have zero regrets. It has been...
That is a great looking installation! You have obviously invested a lot of time an effort. Bring on the build thread! Poser does have a valid concern. If these lines are not sufficiently supported the vibration will work harden the lines leading to their eventual failure. Find a way to support...
I have recently installed a Ramjet in my '76 using the Matt Bier mounts. They make for a really simple install. Keep in mind that your motor will be centered in the frame. If that's not an issue they are well worth the price in my opinion!
I am finishing up a RamJet install in my '76. I used the Matt Bier(Firestein) motor mounts and the Mark's adapter. I to liked the idea of keeping the transmission and transfercase in their original position. I ended up swapping the 4 speed for an H55 with a split case and flipping the rear...
Thanks Guys! I am going to have Tom Woods build my driveshafts. The local guy here in town doesn't have a great reputation for building dependable drive shafts. If he can build them with flanges to match the transfercase and the diffs I'll go that route. If not I will have to find some new...
I'm getting ready to have some new driveshafts made and am wanting to make sure I am not missing something. I have installed a 350 in my '76 with an H55 and splitcase. The output flanges on the transfercase are round and have a different bolt pattern than my original yokes. Here is the question...
I to feel your paint guy was yanking your chain! We use some pretty expensive paints, but I have never heard of a primer costing that. Nothing wrong with the Omni line. I think you will find it doesn't cover as well as their other lines, but it holds up well.
I don't think either one of you will have any issues. I am also getting ready to order my tub from Aqualu. I am planning on using a epoxy primer as a base. Followed by a fill primer then the base coat clear coat. I am not planning on the etch and alodine process. The aluminum Aqualu uses is a...
I washed my hands in MEK for years. I'm amazed my kids didn't end up with 3 eyes and 3 arms! You might check with whomever you bought your etch/alodine from and see if they sell an aluminum wash or brightner. Our process is a complete strip followed by Aero Wash, etch and alodine. I like that...
Actually we don't use zinc chromate much any more. The reason being the "chromate". I manage a large aircraft repair facility where we also do complete paint for the regional airline industry. I'll caution you to make sure you follow the directions on the etch and alodine carefully. If you leave...
