Greets guys. I'm saying bye to my 73 FJ40 to focus on my pickup. It's a frankenyota with a sbc 350, no hardtop or doors, rear quarters gone. Things like the dashpad are great; visors not so much. There is a Bestop soft top, with doors. No interest here in Courtenay, on the island. I...
Last year when I did the timing belt and valves. I don't remember the numbers, but as I recall they were ok. However, my memory needs a rebuild (also due to age), so I think I'll do a comp-test again. Thanks for that.
Howdy,
Any of you change injectors just cause they were high mileage? I have a 93 pickup with a 3vze with 360,000 km on it. I'm having a slight but very annoying hesitation issue. Also, when lugging the engine slightly in 2nd or 3rd it sounds and feels like it's running on 3 cylinders...
You've got some gears running on that shaft. You DEFINITELY need to get that broken bolt out, and thread a new one in. The bolt holds a small flat keep that engages the shaft and keeps it in place.
I've resorted to surgery with an angle grinder at times. It's a bit tricky to cut the right parts, but works well. Only on my son's Dodge; never on my Yota's of course.
Great attitude and project! Never finished but always satisfying to drive. The pooch can pass you tools while you're under the truck. You WILL spend time under the truck! BTW, not sure what perfection is, anyway.
I would pass on it for $12,500. I may test drive it for $7,000. I'd buy it at $5,000. After a test drive, still. Not buying sight unseen (except for a couple of pics and the owners 'assurances') again . I paid $3,500 for mine. Lots of little things to fix.
This 'requires' a special tool. You can buy a power steering pulley puller at your favorite automotive store. I was too cheap to buy one, but never manged to get the pulley off without buggering it. Had to buy a used unit at the wreckers.
Quality is the wrong term, perhaps. I think you are talking about comfort here. My 73 is is great for what I do - shortish offroad runs. Comfortable? Not really. If I want comfort, I'll take my truck. Having said that, I don't like trucks that ride like a couch, either, but that's just...
