Hopefully Bennyboy gets the parts sorted out. I had an error in my last post. It should be a 70 series relay rod (60 series would be too long).
I'm surprised the B bellhousing wouldn't bolt up to the 3B. I had a 3B from a 85/86 70 series I sold to a friend which was mated to a B -...
Too late for me now but I would be interested in how you got the 70 series bell housing to work with the starter and steering box. I tried several different starters. The 60 series starter was the only one I could get to bolt up. I also used a 85/86 BJ70 bellhousing. All this so I could...
An issue I ran into when using the 70 series bell housing was getting the starter to fit. I ended up going with a 60 series starter which sticks up which then interfered with the steering box. I had to go to a 60 series steering box. I shifted my motor forward 3 inches because I used the 70...
Here is a post related to oil pressure sensors incase you haven't found it: 24v oil pressure sender woes? - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/24v-oil-pressure-sender-woes.789852/
There isn't much left of my pressure sender, salt caused it to disintegrate. Looks like both parts are still...
Welcome to the world of BJ42's. I'm in Nova Scotia, have owned mine since 2004 and have been in the process of building/rebuilding since then. I think I've put less than 100 km behind the wheel.
Put up some pictures of the steering. I am currently installing BJ60 series power steering...
I was able to mate the aluminum bellhousing from a 5 bearing 3B to my 3 bearing 3B (cast bellhousing). The starters are clocked differently (70 series to 40 series), you just have to make sure you use the correct flex plate. If you go from cast to aluminum then you should also use the brackets...
12 or 24 volt?
I have a 12 volt from a 85 BJ70 that looks the same, however the knobs are on the opposite side. It pluggs into my BJ42 wiring harness, it is a 12 volt. I have not determined if it is functional yet.

The advise used to be that if there wasn't an issue with the 3B head don't pull it off since it would probably develop cracks. Is this not the popular opinion anymore? and that it is more important to check the pre-cups than crack head issues?
Nice rig, I saw it while it was in Nova Scotia. Didn't get to meet the owner however had the opportunity to walk around and get a quick look. I was wondering why there was a thicker than usual space under the roof. It was parked at the Canadian Tire parking lot and some of the running lights...
Rufus - The only difference for RHD to LHD front cross member would be the holes (nuts) and mounting points for the steering (pivot thing) and the steering stabilizer mount would be on the opposite side. I'm going to be away for about two weeks and my frame I was going to use is outside under a...
I might have a front crossmember in very good shape. It is for a LHD 1980 FJ40. I can let you know when I get my "new" frame which should arrive in March. I can send pictures if you're interested.
Can you let me know what the price is for new engine mounts for 3B. I want to get new ones...
I'm probably about a year away from wanting one, but after a lengthy rebuild process, when I want one, I won't want to wait another year to get one. On top of that the ability to drive down and pick it up - worth some extra cost.
I don't usually weigh in on many posts, especially related to vendors, but I have only had good experience dealing with 4Wheel Auto. I even made a point to drop in to their shop and meet them while I was visiting relatives in Edmonton last spring. I appreciate being able to order parts from...
