Nope. Still using the same 8" third member, just a lower gear ratio. I've been running 8" thirds for over 20 years, I can count on one hand how many gear sets I've broken, and I know why I've broken all of them... being stupid and abusive. I've never been surprised by breaking one.
Jumping...
so this may interest some of you, I picked up a stock front diff from a 2005 4cyl Tacoma, and am gonna couple that with the stock rear diff out of my 97 4runner(I've regeared that to 4.88) both are 4.10 geared, and will be swapping those into my GX. stock the GX470 comes with 3.73 gears so the...
So after some more research and talking with someone with a lot more parts experience than myself we determined that the reason for the difference in part numbers is simply the hitch cap, the 4runner one will have a Toyota logo, and the GX one will have a Lexus logo... Other than that the parts...
Got a picture of it? I have removed the hitch on my truck several years ago and remember there being like a sandwich plate in there but what I currently have is more of a pintle plate... Also could you get a measurement of it's thickness?
So I have just purchased another gx470, this one however does not have the towing package, and I am looking to install a tow hitch on it. I know the 470 and the 4th gen 4runner share the same frame and chassis so why are the part numbers different 228-89440(50) for the 4runner, and 228-60540 for...
Well this has been dead a minute... Ok so a few updates I have been slowly working on getting it back together had some hurtles along the way. I ended up buying a good used low mileage motor and digging into that from there. It will be ready for a M112 SC once I get a intake manifold for the...
I only did cause I was given an offer I couldn't refuse. FJC was traded in and immediately sent to become a certified pre-owned... aka gotta go back to 110% stock, even the air filter has to be stock, tires have to be stock, not just stock size. So all the icon stuff was taken out, and it...
This is exactly what it was like for me. Yes I had driven vehicles with icons and other brands but until you actually own a set and drive that vehicle for a week or so and really get a feel for the difference, that's when it sets in... I know that the FCPs are and were a huge step up for me...
Ironman USA doesn't even rebuild them... I think this is gonna get interesting when they come time to needing it. It's not like a typical rebuildable shock so most places that will rebuild your Icon or Fox or Radflo won't touch them...
No, well yes sorta, I had driven through it twice early in the afternoon with no issues so IDK what happened different that time... Just sucked... (no pun intended)
