    Help me understand the appeal.

My take on the LC is this ( and I think others have also said similar in different words) - The appeal of the LC to me is that the big bones (frame, axles, engine, transmission) are generally oversized for the platform. There will be wear items and other failures of vendor parts, but the...

    Builds Tex's 200 build thread

If you're in the DFW area, I'd like to check those out in person sometime. Maybe do a Bridgeport trip? My LC has a set of 4 KMC wheels on it. I want to buy a 5th to complete the set before I move out of state/out of country but KMC doesn't have any in stock and haven't answered any emails...

    Builds Tex's 200 build thread

Man I really like the look of those wheels, but zero offset with that much rubber doesn't seem like a recipe for success. Have you had a chance to flex the suspension with those yet? Any rubbing?

Go for it or bad idea? Purchase advice on an LX with misfire code.

I had a 200k mile 2010 LC with a misfire code - turned out to be water in the cylinder and a blown head gasket. That's a $12k fix around here if you pay to have it done. Proceed carefully.

The BIG TRIP - What would you take?

In this case, overseas could also be Central/South America. Perhaps I used the word beyond its intended very specific meaning of crossing an ocean. Let's just say, I'm moving outside the country, to a TBD location. We literally don't know. And yes, there are multiple precedents for importing...

The BIG TRIP - What would you take?

They're rare and expensive in the US. It's just another car in the rest of the world. I mean, yeah it would stick out a bit in Bangladesh slums, but that's not where we'll be hanging out. I think I'm just about there...still debating the winch though. We probably won't do any hardcore...

The BIG TRIP - What would you take?

I'm definitely set on keeping this one until an actual situation requires something different. It's all conjecture at this point and I don't want to dump my car based on a 0.1% chance that it doesn't meet spec in a yet-unknown place. I'll get all the PM stuff knocked out over the next few...

The BIG TRIP - What would you take?

Yep, we're well acquainted with import compliance and such, so we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Either de-mod it, sell it, whatever. This is actually for my wife's job, not mine (I get to become a freeloading house-husband!). And within her circle of peers the overwhelming choice...

The BIG TRIP - What would you take?

My 2010 radiator cracked a few years ago (probably what led to its ultimate demise with a blown head gasket last month). Are 2016s subject to the same issues? Got a part number for the new style?

The BIG TRIP - What would you take?

I think fuel is pretty low on the priority list. We'll be living in a city and just venturing out from there on weekenders. If I need extra, I'll throw a jerry on top or something. If we go for a much longer trek, then I'd likely have some kind of trailer and it would go in there.

The BIG TRIP - What would you take?

I don't have a full size spare yet, but as soon as KMC restocks my wheels I will get one. The previous owner went for aesthetics instead of function, so here we are. Without going into detail, yes work is paying for the move, all inclusive. We get to bring one car, so obviously it has to be a...

The BIG TRIP - What would you take?

The dual battery kit is already on the UPS truck from Slee, and the Redarc stuff from Redarc. :) I was planning to just get a rechargeable jump box but the battery gives me more winch juice too. I'm not too worried about the added complexity. I can install and maintain those systems myself...

The BIG TRIP - What would you take?

Good point. Definitely worth considering. Thanks for the input! I like that I could also put an electrical panel on it and install things like the ham radio. Wifey just reminded me that kids will come back from college to visit us wherever we are, so I still kinda need 6 passenger...

The BIG TRIP - What would you take?

This is not your everyday trail tool kit thread. We will soon be packing up and moving overseas somewhat permanently, but moving approximately every two years for work. I have an idea of what to take and how I want to outfit the cruiser, but I'd like to hear some other opinions on must-haves...

    Rooftop box impact on mileage

Boxes are awesome. We're a family of 6 and we travel comfortably in the LC. We previously had a Suburban for this mission when the kids were half the size they are now. The Suburban was a great family hauler, but the LC is just a better everything-else car in every way. I get a 1-2mpg hit...

What Scangauge/OBD2 parameters do you monitor?

Weird. It's about halfway down the first page of the forum. Last time stamp 9:47am

What Scangauge/OBD2 parameters do you monitor?

In order to get the ring to show TC lock up, you have to overlay two gauges. Download the dashboard from TeCKis300 in the thread below and import it into your display to see the example. DIY Smartphone Scan Gauge - OBD Fusion -...

    Suspension Questions - Icon, OEM

I would love to. Need to get past the holidays and get some breathing room on the credit card before my wife will let me get any toys though. This cruiser just happened to already have Icon so I’m stuck with it for a while.

    Suspension Questions - Icon, OEM

Thanks...that's what I was trying to get at. I wasn't sure if people were just using those measurements and comparing raw data, or somehow accounting for body shape. The running board makes sense to me, so I'll go check that and update.
