My 73 FJ40 was my daily driver when I lived in the bay area. Stock engine / trans / diff, OME suspension on 32s, manual steering - I would drive it on the freeway all the time, loaded to go camping or similar it would cruise at 65 pretty happily. Loaded up and it would strain going up hills...
You know, this is a really good point which I had not considered.
Im leaning towards getting the later model rims and slightly larger 265/70/17. Updated look and higher ride height. Then honestly probably going with the KYB electronic shocks front and back as an update.
Probably a better...
I have a 2010 GX460 with 155K miles on it. I have owned it since 2020 and I love it. Emerald green with a black interior, It is whatever the fully loaded version is (with airbag suspension and AVS).
I often haul motorcycles on a hitch rack on the back, so I really like the auto leveling air...
My 2010 GX460 with 136k miles has been throwing timing codes. I just brought it into the dealership for a diagnosis and they found that it needs a new timing chain and sprocket, and quoted my $8300 for the job, which seems to me like 3 or 4x more than I would expect it to be.
Does anyone have...
I 100% suspect the chain was not replaced, and the PO just didn’t know. Honest mistake.
mom hopeful that it’s either an electrical short, an ECU glitch, or a bad sensor, but it would be odd that I would have a sensor failure on both sides.
car is going in on Wednesday, stay tuned and wish me...
It's totally possible that the chain was not replaced. The PO kept up with maintenance, but generally just took it in and had the service done. He was not super informed about what had been done.
I have a regular little service shop I take it to for oil changes and brakes, but they are not a...
I have an appointment with the dealer on Wednesday, but wanted to get an idea of what I may be in for. I purchased my GX460 with around 127k miles on it, now has about 137k (6 months later). About a month after I purchased it I got a CEL and some codes indicating a timing issue with the...
Naw, it was a REALLY good deal on a '14 KTM 250XCW. Got down there and the vin was ground off. So, not such a good deal.
I ended up buying an '08 YZ125, then found a crazy deal on a '16 Beta 300 RR Race....so now I have two new dirt bikes. Got the YZ for a song so may just resell it for a...
Issue ended up being really easy to resolve.
I cleared the OBD codes, took it into Lexus for the recall work, then took it for a long drive. No issues, and it cleared the permanent codes. I pulled both passenger side VVT solenoids and flip flopped them.
Next day I drove about an hour south...
Someone actually contacted me last night with who had a hub and fork ready to go, so I have already purchased what I need. Sorry for making you dig around in some rust. I am sure someone else on here will want it as they seem to be becoming increasingly difficult to find.
Thanks again.
Putting in a new clutch and the hub and fork are worn. I have found some options for used forks, but nothing for the clutch release hub. Looking for used in good condition, or any suggestions of what my options are if I can not locate one.
I believe the part number is 3123160010
Thanks all!

Anyone have any clue where to find one? What are my options if I can not find one?
thanks!
The car is with Lexus now, they are replacing the secondary fan under recall. I also swapped out the two passenger side solenoids to see if that throws a different code (or any code at all?). Will update as things progress.
Purchased a 2010 GX460 from the original owner in December. Clean car, havent had any issues. Today I was driving home after a couple hour trip and the dash lit up. CEL + slip lights on, 4Low and Multi terrain lights blinking.
I pulled over, turned off the car, turned it back on, put it in...
Thanks, I was confused about the two output shaft seals. Assumed there was only one output shaft.
I am having the gaskets replaced as well.
Thanks for the info.
I have a new clutch being put into my 73 FJ40, and while the transmissions is out I am going to have new gaskets put in. It was also suggested that I swap out the transfer case seals at the same time, but having a hard time deciphering which seals I need. It is just an Input and and Output...
