    Steering shaft protector

So I was taking off my steering shaft protector to inspect my steering knuckle and whatnot. Then I thought to myself as I was looking at the protector "Is this thing really needed?". The only thing I can see is that the rubber boot above the knuckle maybe compromised by the heat of the...

    Rear spring rubber spacer thingy

There is a thick rubber spacer between the bottom bolt plate of the rear spring and the spring itself of my 86' 60. Both are pretty chewed up and I can't find it in the FSM or online parts. Is it even needed?

Securing inside door & side panels

I've removed my rear side panels years ago and just now replacing them with 1/4" marine plywood left over from a boat build. I'm thinkin about hook & loop velcro to attach the plywood to the inside metal, but also would like to know what other people have used to resecure the inside existing...

    Radiator drain plug options

I replaced the radiator when the engine was rebuild a few years ago on my 60. This one has a plastic plug that just unscrews and everything comes gushing out catching what I can, but still a big mess. Has anyone fabed up some brass fittings or have any other ideas to make draining cleaner and...

    Rear axle oil seal Q.

I replaced the bearing and oil seal on the rear of my 86'. I know the seal should be flush with the outerside axle housing, but it got knocked in a little further but not quit touching the bearing. Should that still be OK?

    Fuseable link alternative from battery.

OK, the fuseable link on my 60 leading from the Pos. on the battery terminal burned on the red FL wire which looks like it leads to the alternator. My battery has been slowly draining and finally went dead. When I tried to jump the battery thats when the red FL wire blew, my thinking it was...

    Non USA carb. adjust.

OK, before I started fiddling with stuff everything ran great. I got done doing my valves and decided to check my timing, what was suppose to be a minor adjustment turned into a head scratcher. I'm running a DUI w/ mechanical advance with a non USA carb. I got the timing down, but whenever I...

    Oil Age

I have an 86' rebuild 6,000 miles ago, broken in with dino. juice and now running synthetic. I only run it mainly in the winter 2 - 2500 miles per year with my motorcycle running in fair weather. Just out of curiosity is the oil still good in the crankcase until that next oil change for...

    Should there be something here?

Got into my RR quarter panel where my fuel pipe goes through the inside panel and into the fuel tank. I notice a good amount of caked in dust and dirt that I scraped out and vaccumed in the bottom, next will be a good wipedown, but also noticed that the pipe goes through an oversized hole...

    Fuel filter level

My fuel filter level is not even a quarter full when the truck is running on idle and goes down further when the throttle is applied. The site level in the carb seems OK even when gas is applied and I changed the filter. Is this normal or a sign of the fuel pump going out or even blockage in...

    throttle lever boot on carb.

Have an 86' 60 with a torn rubber acordian boot on top of the carb. exposing the shaft going into the carb. Just wondering if it is as simple as getting a new rubber boot and replacing it without much effort, or does it involve a little more carburator experience. I pretty much work on my...

    Idle issue solved

Had a heck of a time trying to figure why I had an inconsistant high idle on my 86', anywhere from 1000-2500rpm's. I did remember reading in a past forum that the main spring on the carburator linkage will loose their tension and need to be replaced, after all 20 yrs. of tension on a spring is...
