Had a wind event when camping along with a trapped solar lead and stripped my panels. Cut away the backside and looks like I can re-solder.
Should I solder or use butt splice connectors?
company wont help with wiring diagram (so am returning the extra panel I bought a few weeks ago!)
Never done...
Will report back - been chasing a gremlin and given all the stories of fusible links and the problems they can throw up i thought this was low hanging fruit - already checked for battery drain pulling fuses - seems okay…..
Replaced fusible links hoping this solves battery drain issue, trying a 3D printed fix for shaky mirror syndrome and and replaced tire swing out carrier bearings
I just did the same - been having some really weird battery drain stuff going on and seeing this prompted me to finally get to mine - kinda of a pain to swap out if I’m honest with the rats nest of wires I got going on…
Not yet - I did see a YouTube with someone using a welder - don’t have one…..
Would one of these work in place to get it hot ‘enough’?
Am also looking for way to caramelize crème brûlées in future so.,….. ;)
Thanks
Last weekend I fixed a floppy mirror post
This weekend trying a more permanent shaky mirror fix from solve function (@Outsane) - thanks by the way! Looks like my bottom bracket on the mirror itself is bust so have to think around that..
Has anyone tried this from carports.com - 70 bucks...
from shaky mirror to shaky entire wing mirror - fixed!
Thanks to this thread below….
Saved me 500 if bought new…

Hmmmm - that is in the works…. I did this after I regeared - growl and vibrations that were there after I switched to 35’s got so much worse……now totally gone after this……The u joints that were in this were only a few years old.
Kinda at the limit of my knowledge on the mechanics when I got this...
The inside of the wing mirrors could be quite useful i think? You’d need one that doesn’t have a busted plastic clip…. I think I’m thinking about that one correctly….
Eventually regeared to 488’s in summer 2022 for proper fit with 35’s and also finally got one of these below - February ish 2023 - no more driveline growl
Well it’s been a while but some new toys!
Time will tell on the induction setup with 200Amp setup - likely will need double current 200W solar setup but let’s see!
Did the same lift, same vibration noise as you described - installed new u joints. Got better but still there - tried getting castor fixed .....never could eliminate it.
Got new front DC shaft installed - vibration noise eliminated!
This was Oso group campground - not cheap but there was a ton of us there. Check out yellow post camping - always been a good experience in the Big Bear area.
Holcomb Valley also good to check.
Been too long..... Big Bear camping!
finally taking the plunge on regearing to 488's next week.
Trying to find some mod ideas to the slee rear tire ladder - seen people create small shelves that come down as a small cooking platform - can't locate so if anyone can point me in the right...
Looking to Regear to 488’s.
Any suggestions on shop to do the work?
In Orange County here.
Have the parts lined up at cruiser outfitters.
Thanks in advance
