    Fuel consumption 1hd fte

Hi. I have the exact same model and year. The best I could ever get on highway at 100kmh on cruise control is 12l/100km. That is with 33 ST MAXXs and a clamshell RTT. In the city the consumption is close to 20l/100km. Both numbers are for summer, mid 20C.

Prepping my 100 for an Africa-Adventure

I have exactly the same interrior, except for an 4 speed automatic. My cruiser came with a factory manual and the AHC load specs are: If loaded above 450kg, the suspension will not go into Hi mode. The total load for N mode is 600kg. These numbers are for new springs and torsion bars, so its...

How many 100 series do you see in a day?

Tallinn, Estonia: I see one maybe 1-2 times per month. Have seen none that are modified in any way. I do see a lot of 120/150 series cruisers, 10+ daily. Have never seen an LX470 here.

    Skid plate cooling

I'm looking to buy a set of skid plates for my truck. The only brand I found in Europe that makes a full set (including the fuel tank skid plate) uses design without any holes in the skid plates. I am wondering if this would affect cooling? Most brands I saw (ARB and Slee as examples) have...

    Sudden AHC failure and leak

Mine also failed suddenly. One day, was going home from work, started the truck up and right in the parking lot while stationary, the AHC went into low and OFF started blinking. That was the end of it. AHC was working fine up to that point. Turned out to be rusted read accumulator. The trouble...

Stock spare tire carrier with wire rope

Exactly, I was thinking the same. Even without rust, it may need some help. The stock road tire I was taking out of there felt a lot lighter than the Cooper ST MAXX. I was thinking of putting an extra chain there wrapped in a plastic cover to help with rattles and a small barn lock.

Stock spare tire carrier with wire rope

Thanks for confirming about 33 and 35. That's great to hear. Yes, shipping to Estonia would be expensive. But from the looks of, the cross member is just a metal plate. I think any metal shop will be able to fabricate something like this easily.

Stock spare tire carrier with wire rope

The winch does actually work, but yes, looking more at the photos it does seem to be pretty bad. When I looked under there in person yesterday it didn't look as scary as the photo and most cars here look like this after a few years - roads are covered with salt very liberally during the winter...

Stock spare tire carrier with wire rope

Well, I think it's surface rust. I added a picture. The main reason I'm asking is that I read the cable winch design is not strong enough and there were occurrences the wheel was falling off. It was changed to chain design at some point?

Stock spare tire carrier with wire rope

I'm looking for a spot to mount my 285/70R17 tire and was hoping to mount it where the stock tire went. I am concerned about the strength of the stock system though. Has anyone had long term success running a heavy (MT) 33 tire there? The cross-member and winch are also covered with surface...

    Your no bs mpg

Everyone here is getting very good MPG for V8s. I have 1HD-FTE and I am at around 13.8 city and 16.8 highway. Running 285/70R17 Cooper ST/MAXX and a clam-shell RTT.

    LCA Longevity

Thanks for the confirmation, very good to know it very well could be the bushings. Strange that I do not have any noise coming from the rear when going over unpaved roads. But I'll look into getting new bushings for all the control arms, not only the lower ones.

    LCA Longevity

My 2003 Land Cruiser has 240k km (around 150k miles) on the clock and a clunk has been bothering me for quite a while. I have read threads about the infamous clunk related to drive shafts, however mine are in good condition and the dealer swears there is no play in them. My clunk happens when I...

    Camshaft and crankshaft restoration

Good to know oversize bearings are available. I guess they are not toyota originals? Do you know some brand names I could check or part numbers? I am in northern europe, so getting them from Australia would be pricey. The engine is partially taken apart now and the head is off. This is how I...

    Camshaft and crankshaft restoration

I have recently purchased a 100 series with a 1hd-fte diesel engine and had the misfortune of buying one with a head gasket problem, where the previous owner didn't bother to fix it. As a result, coolant was entering the block and wearing out bearings and both camshaft and crankshaft. When I...

    Gearbox jolts

I recently purchased my first cruiser and having read a lot of info about the 4spd auto reliability, I didn't even consider there could be issues with it, but the service center guys said that it's almost gone. I suspect something else may be wrong because everyone says the 4spd is bulletproof...
