Well I finally had a chance to get my rear third member off my LX450. What I was hoping would be a easy fix, might be more ugly than before.
She was packaged and sent to Zuk at gearinstalls.com.
Some of my facts/misfortune:
Driving home after Craigslist purchase, rear diff spewed and left...
Tried Driving to work today.... 3,000 miles since having rear differential rebuilt. Rear differential Failure again...
Sigh, this isn't normal right? Going to call the Differential Specialist that rebuilt it and see what can be done, "if" there is any warranty.
Also calling AAA towing to...
I will take the 4 wheels, it looks like Bluto wants the center caps so you can get everything sold.
PM me your address, I prefer to send USPS Money orders as I don't use paypal. thanks!
I do a spray on bake on coating for firearms and other small items. I would love an oven this size in my shop.
On the coating side, many guys have success using the harbor freight stuff, for powder coating and powder (they have some preferences in color for hardness etc)
Have fun, I often...
Soo far... in Wyoming... :frown: If you were closer it would make more sense.. I have spent a week in Wyoming once, Vehicle broke down stuck in Evanston... Wife vows to never spend another day in Wyoming again..
Lol that baggie method will solve a lot for me, just the thought of pumping it via my grease gun... :poop::poop:.
And hello fellow north central Iowan... Beers on me...:beer:
Glad you are headed in the right direction to find it. May you have a heated garage to ease the repair. I added a propane heater to the garage, made last nights -10 windchill bareable.
Upon buying my LX450 last year, driving home with my new purchase, I had the rear 3rd member fail on me. So I had it rebuilt with stock ratio etc, since I am building this as the family adventure/camping vehicle.
Update but not sure if it is what froze me up the other day:
Propane garage...
I am close to Fort Dodge.. 45 mins north of Ames.
It looks like everyone is tending towards brakes... this is a chance since I replaced my rear 3rd member, I could have missed a torque on the brakes on reassembly.
I shall take a look tonight, thanks for the feedback all!
Apparently after a great weekend of shuttling the wife and kids around for shopping in the snow, the driveline clunk Immobilized my LX450 enroute this morning with the kids to school.
I was stuck in the kid drop off line... clunk happened, LX450 sat there unable to move. I put her in reverse...
