I have decided to sell my pride and joy 1998 Land Cruiser. It’s been a ton of fun to own, modify, and hit the dirt in but I’ve decided to get a newer vehicle. Asking $8,500 FIRM. See the notes below
Specifications:
1. Approximately 215k miles
2. Emerald Green
3. Zero body or frame...
I had a similar experience. New belt and pulleys but would get a regular chirp noise at idle. I sprayed the belt with water and it got much worse which told me it was tension. Turns out the tensioner needed replacement. That fixed the problem.
I'm not so sure about the change after time but from my understanding, the speaker noise is common for early 100 series with factory amp after aftermarket head-units.

I searched but didn't find what I was looking for. There is a universal roof rack basket on CraigsList that I am thinking about putting on top of my 100. I am not ready to put on a gamiviti rack (price and only occasional need for it at this point). I would put my plano storage trunks up...
X2 what @Lowbudgetlc100 said. I get the same issue with my 1998. Brakes are in good shape but the lubrication wears off between the pad and the shim and causes squealing. I'll check the brakes and add lubrication about every tire rotation.
Posted on ExPo also- I thought this was too good of a deal to keep to myself. It is on sale at gigaparts here and after rebates, it's 279 (plus there is a summer discount code for additional $10 off). I have had the Yaesu 2900r but never found a mounting option to my standards in my LC 100...
FYI I am in El Paso and just took a friend's family to the airport. The 100 was excellent with my KO2s. I10 was basically just wet and and slushy on the shoulders. Don't sweat it and use your head. It's not your 100 you have to worry about but the other drivers who aren't paying attention.
This weekend, I replaced the heater hose tees for the second time. I had replaced the OEM ones with 175k on them about 9 months ago (1 crumbled when taking out) with the Amazon brass ones. I had reused the original hose clamps and hoses and was seeing evidence of dripping fluid since then. It...
Look what present the UPS fairy left for me today. For anybody wondering, it was very methodically packaged and secured. Thanks Ben.
It's off for powder coat tomorrow.
Thanks suprarx7nut. I found your thread yesterday and appreciate you posting your troubleshooting. Very helpful. I all but came to the same conclusion. Either replace the amp or use the aftermarket head unit to power the speakers and bypass the amp.
I haven't gone out and looked yet but is it...
Update- I tinkered with my stereo last weekend and cut the harness ground wire and ran it directly to the battery- nothing changed so I decided to take it to the professionals today. After diagnosing, they said that upgraded double din stereo is too much for the factory amp. He didn't push me on...
