    80 series seat motor

The threads in one of my plastic seat motors where the end cap screws in was in poor shape. Due to that the cap kept falling out. So when i had my seat out to install my new plastic gear i used a very small drill bit to not only cross drilled the housing, but drilled through the very end of...

    Drivers Switch Panel

Use the SEM products listed above, I've used them many times on car restorations. I've even used their products to do complete color changes of interior plastic and soft vinyl parts on classic cars. Just make sure you follow the directions and make sure that you use their primer BEFORE you try...

Cracks on the outside of cylinder head

If you do a search, you'll find that these cylinder heads can, and do crack. Most of the photos I've seen the cracks develop in, and below the valve cover gasket mating rail. Once it cracks you'll start to notice oil seeping out where the crack is located.

    Qustion About Spindle Needle Bearings

I just checked Cruiser Outfitters web site, below is a copy of the current spindles they have for sale. It seems what the salesman told me is correct, the only spindles they currently offer for the 80 series only come one way, with needle bearings already installed. Part# FA60080 - $145.00/each...

    Qustion About Spindle Needle Bearings

Funny you should bring that up, when i spoke to the sales man at Cruisers Outfitters i ask him that very question. He told me the only way you can get a spindle, both factory Toyota and the aftermarket ones cruiser outfitters sells only come one way now, with needle bearings installed in both.

    Qustion About Spindle Needle Bearings

The other day i was teaching my son how to clean, repack, and reinstall wheel bearings on my land cruiser. Once we got everything apart i noticed that my spindles had about .010 wear on them where the outer wheel bearing rides. So i called up, and spoke to one of Kurt's guys at Cruiser...

    Bad spindles?

Just think, if your are dealing with rust on parts you can see, just think about the inside of your body panels that you can't see. My wife and i use to live on the central coast of CA years ago. What we use to do after driving on the beach to help remove as much of the salt spray/sand as we...

Distributor with vents? more waterproofing wanted

Just a word of warning for those thinking about doing mods to their Distributor, if you damage it, and need a replacement, you could be out of luck getting that replacement from Toyota. I could be wrong, but i seem to remember Mud's resident parts expert, Beno, stated that the factory...

Looking for opinions on PO maintenance list

I agree with the above statement. This may help to set your mind at ease, there are more then a few owners of 93 to 97 trucks posting here on mud that have over 300,000 miles on their original head gasket. But if your really concerned about the condition of the cooling system/head gasket. Pay...

Need Help Finding Brake Caliper Torque Spec.

I was doing some PM on my truck today with my son. I told him to remove the brake rotors on my Land Cruiser so i could teach him the correct way to clean, inspect, re grease, and reinstall/tighten a set of wheel bearings. Problem is, my son made the mistake of removing one of the lower bolts...

marlon828, RUN, and i mean RUN away from that truck, it already looks like it's got some serious cancer/rust growing up inside the body panels. The reason i say that, If you look real close at the photos you took of the lower rocker box. It looks like someone has troweled a large glob of bondo...

Adding a 25 shot of NOS

From a convenience standpoint, having to craw underneath your truck each time the NOS bottle runs empty would quickly get old. Another problem, if you ran anything over the standard 60 CF bottle, (60 CF bottle is the standard sized NOS bottle that comes in most NOS kits that you buy) say like a...
