Hey Greg
Look up "Buzzy 80" in the search feature. See if that is what you are talking about. I have the same problem and their doesn't seem to be a consensus on what it is. I was thinking about taking all of the theories and knock them off one by one and reporting back to the group.
I think I said it was a 96 with 85K. No mods. AT Revo's on the wheels. I'll look up the buzz, but I can definately feel it, especially on the passenger side. And like I said the transfer case shifter moves a bit when I accelerate. What are the life span on engine and transmission mounts?
I have a 96 cruiser, 85K miles. I have a vibration when I accelerate in the floor boards and in my hi/lo shifter. The vibration gets worse with speed and is worse on the passenger's side floor.
In addition, when I accelerate my hi/lo shifter "moves" to the right a bit. My exhaust is getting...
I'm getting a strange high pitch whirring/whistling/ringing noise when my truck get in the 2200-2800 rpm range. Here are the particulars:
[LIST]
Only when I'm moving.
Stops when the tranny downshifts
No sound below 2200 rpm.
Sounds like it's coming from underneath the 2nd row?
NOT wind...
Little Background: 1996 LC with 68K.
I bought the thing with green in the radiator but haven't flushed it out to put red in it. The hoses "look" okay. No evidence of splitting or rot.
Here's the problem. The last two days when I take the truck out on a short trip and stop, I loose about a...
I guess what I meant was when they changed the filter did they do a messy job and let a bunch of oil leak out of the used filter by not putting a rag down there?
You can take it to staples or Office Max, or another office supply store. They can do it for you. I also put in plastic tab dividers for the sections. Works much better.
It is a real FSM, but the second half was seperating at the top of the book and I was always afraid that if I flexed it...
I recently got an FSM off ebay and when I got it the glue in the binding was giving away, which made it a PITA when doing a valve adjustment recently on my 96FZJ80
Sooo, I took all the pages out of the cover, section by section, three hole punched them and put those little round plastic...
"Given that this is my DD, I'd be VERY concerned with me doing this w/o some first time guidance. Lack of mechanical confidence is what it boils down to I guess."
I'm a  mechanic and I find that I'm too stupid to know what I can screw up and attempt almost anything including a valve...
Ask them about a $1500 or $2000 deductible and get back to us to let us know how that helps.
That being said, you have a) be mentally and financially prepared to shell out that if you get into trouble, and b) try to drive better.
At 19 with 2, I can't believe you are getting off so cheap.
I agree with TX TLC. What is your deductible. Get the full cov and raise your deductible to a $1000 or even $1500.(I have $2000 on mine.) It sounds like a lot, but it will bring your rates down considerably and concievably you could...
Thanks. That was the thought I had. I did replace the wires, and I checked the old ones. They were actually good, but since I was baselining the vehicle I went ahead and replaced them.
Thanks for the thoughts.
I just finished my first tune up and every thing went very well and the truck runs great..
I have a question, however, about the spark plug tubes. When I took the number 3 plug out, the whole inside of the tube had a fine white crust on the inside. the other tubes were clean.
I checked...
TSP: Tri Sodium Phosphate. It's a cleaner often found in the paint section of your local hardware store or where they keep power washing supplies. It is mostly used for cleaning off grease and gloss off old paint when you want new paint to stick. It gets off tobacco yellow on walls in...
I Just completed my second step in baselining my 96 FZJ80. (Did all the fluids per threads from here first.) I replaced all my belts, well two anyway. PVC valve, spark plug wires, plugs, rotor cap, air filter and new idler pulley.
I've never as much as changed my oil and wanted to thank...
I am also having trouble with this. My driver's side carpet is soaked, but when I went to pop the two inch sized plugs underneath, there didn't seem to be any water in there. I cleaned the tube at top and at the small slit at the bottom. (It's more like a seperation in the seam. it's very...
Got it all
Got it. I numbered them as I downloaded it and it worked. I still have to do a bit of clean up. This is my first factory manual, and I'm looking at it thinking how come I've never seen this much info on one subject before. It's def a revelation for me.
