    Considering 100 to GMT800. Am I crazy?

I know an old timer mechanic that owns a GMT800 2003, only has like 55k on it and it’s pretty mint. Has the quad steering as well, impressive turn radius for such a large truck.

    Brakes ...... Overdue write-up.

There is no feeling like hitting the brake pedal and it goes to the floor, those who had it happen can relate I’m sure(happened in a work van, rusted line). No brakes can cause serious problems, I was lucky. To me… that’s worth $$$$. Mine gave me a warning, slow weeping from master into abs...

All brake lights and alarm on, but brakes feel fine

Master assembly gets discussed and dissected in this thread, along with other brake info. Worth reading imo. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/brakes-overdue-write-up.1230968/

    partsouq.com

I started using Decatur, pro packing for $$$ parts. They need to redo their website though… I have to copy paste PNs in, part navigation isn’t my favorite.

    partsouq.com

I’ve ordered parts from Toyota and Partsouq same day… partsouq arrived first lol. Impex is slower but typically better prices with the conversion.

Don’t let it go, rare to find one with all the history at your fingers!

    Post your high-mileage 100-series!!!

This is where people go wrong. Save money, buy the cheaper one with more miles and most likely more newer parts. Put saved money back into truck when needed. 20 years old is 20 years old, 90k vs 300k doesn’t change age on rubber and components. But I’d take my chances that the 300k was mostly...

    Post your high-mileage 100-series!!!

bull nailed it above. It’s about condition of the truck, miles mean nothing on the 2UZ platform. (It’s the million mile engine). Find the cleanest, well maintained truck you can, forget about the number on the odo. Stop sweating the miles, look at the thread your in… plenty over 300k in here...

Keep it or Return it? 1999 LC with 93K Miles

Do not be scared of higher mile 2UZ, I’d argue it just means it’s been driven more and most likely kept up with fluids, filters, some preventative maintenance. Condition trumps mileage all day, hang out in the classifieds and take your time. You’ll find a keeper with less problems for sure...

Keep it or Return it? 1999 LC with 93K Miles

send it back. for all the cons you listed, you can find examples of 200k trucks that have had those replaced already and for 1/2 the price, those labor/parts prices also seem steep.

Recommendations for Refurbish my 04 LC

You seem well informed and understand what can and might pop up. Also seems like you understand financially what is cheaper, which leads me to believe you understand what’s in or out of your budget. Being in that position is great, it will allow you to make a choice of what you’d rather deal...

Recommendations for Refurbish my 04 LC

I wouldn’t trade up for only 08-11; I’d make the jump to 16+ for his purposes. $1000-$2000 a year is still nothing compared to dropping 70k+ on a much newer 200/300 series. The 200 comes with its own common problems as well, no vehicle is perfect. They do cruise the highway nicer(75mph) but I...

Recommendations for Refurbish my 04 LC

Id keep the 100 with how nice you’ve kept up with it! Here’s a giant thread on the current problem you’re having. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/gas-tank-building-excessive-pressure-fuel-smell-dangerous-for-sure-why-does-this-happen.1214321/

Looking for opinions on this truck. Purchase, or avoid?

Pass, yall live in the south. The paint on the frame looks more like cover up than proper sand and repaint. It’s going to trap moisture instead and accelerate the rust. You could stick a scope inside to see what that looks like in the frame rail. Drop the spare, almost always the worst area...

    Swap Climate Control Bezel

If you go with OEM Nav or aftermarket NAV the replacement head unit has to control the HVAC. So it’s all touch screen, if for some reason the touch screen breaks, you can’t control your HVAC. If you can’t get the head unit to work with your HVAC you will have issues as well. Look up the Tesla...

    Swap Climate Control Bezel

Im not a fan of any stereo units controlling my hvac. I’d take my chances with one of those switches going bad vs the tech not working with the hvac system. I’ve spent time in the post 03 nav delete, you’re going the opposite way you’ll need to change wiring harness connectors, or make...

    Some Noob Questions

Yeah I can understand the simplicity aspect, I got an LC so no AHC, BUT 1) it is comfy (test road some LX) if it’s simply adjusting t-bars, fluid flush, even replacing globes. All will be easier than ripping and tearing it out. Once you have rotted hard lines, that’s when it goes to crap. It...

Ticking - exhaust leak, what's the harm?

Drove my 2UZ 4R 2005 w/exhaust tick for…5 years, sold it with it. Never had a problem, never threw a cel for cats either. It was pretty loud and annoying but with the condition of the frame on that truck I wasn’t throwing $2k at it until it gave me real problems. YMMV 🤘 I guess the bigger...

    Some Noob Questions

Some US dealer still have a 25% off on parts, the thread is near the top of this section. As for searching on this site… it’s rough, I typically just use my search engine and look up “100 series ih8mud <question>” it yields the best results imo. Swapping to traditional you’ll also have to...
