Those are all good suggestions. I have used the last ones for my ditch lights, and I think I have some extras. I might go that route in the rear off-the-seat harness when I get to that. I need the center console one to be flexible, though, for inflators and such, so I think I'll start with...
Yeah, all the easy stuff is ticked. I've always had issues with this socket so maybe it's time to tear the console apart and swap it out and check the internals.
Does anybody have any ideas of where to ground under the center console? I ran ground all the way back to the firewall when I...
Anyone have ideas on a better 12v socket for me? I have the Blue sea (https://amzn.to/4aIcaWp) in the back of my console and have all sorts of trouble getting various plugs to be able connect through it. I just got a new SetPower fridge for the rig, and its plug doesn't seem to work at all. I've...
It only sucks if you think a design that tends to have a wheel fall off from a worn ball joint is a bad thing 🤷♂️ but if it’s in good shape, a stock 3rd gen will out wheel a 120 or 150 stock any day. Now trying to get up a steep climb without traction control or getting through a long day...
I found a 5th gen forum post where someone said they were able to use a 555 but had to do some grinding to make it work. Seems a little crazy to me considering how critical the part is, but I guess it is possible. I rebuilt the lca’s on my 3rd gen which has oem bj’s and bushes available and is...
Even if you sheared them off the I don’t think grease wouldn’t go anywhere fast. Grease only flings with momentum like in the case of a u joint or spinning cv. But in any case, Id just go oem. They last 150-200k and have a MUCH lower failure rate than aftermarket. There’s not much performance to...
This^^
Lx is too wide for the trail. AHC is overly complicated and harder to install a lift (unless you just trick it to stay up) and the mileage is even worse than the terrible mileage the GX gets.
But towing with a GX isn’t super fun.
Did you mirror this post on the 200 series forum? Bet...
I already took it out to put a Bison gear table in (because it rattled) but you can see it stowed (and me complaining about it) in this video - If you get the holes drilled better than I did or put a bigger set of rubber bumpers in it would probably fix the rattle.
I guess I havn’t learned my lesson after the drawer system because now Im thinking I’ll build my own tilting fridge slide.
Planning on making a DFG style tilting slide because it looks like an easy approach. Just aluminum angle cut nicely and pop riveted together. Ive got a nice sliding miter...
Platform top is 43”w X 36”d. I maximized the space so it’s about 5/8” away from my table folded up and maybe an 1/8” from the seat backs slid all the way back in the standard upright position. Its about 1/16 from touching the wheel well trim on either side. I’ll probably round off the edges...
Moving right along. Blazer likes the new deck. Thought he’d be timid since its 10” higher than his normal perch but all it took was one Scooby snack to retrain him.
Next up is drawer faces and a sleeper. Anyone know why everyone uses piano hinges for sleepers? I’m thinking lift off gate hinges...
@Cold Iron yeah. That could work well (the l-track lugs). Id still be worried about have very little adjustment on the bracket to frame connections but you probably measure more accurately than me : )
I feel great about the strength of my 10 series and glad I didn’t go with anything bigger. I...
Trying to build it so there will never be a failure point, but if you mean what would break first if I put the truck in a giant rock tumbler with the drawers loaded up with bricks? I suppose the eight M-6 bolts holding the frame to the platform brackets shearing off? There's 12 M-6's holding the...
Finally getting back to finishing this up. Got the second drawer built and assembled the second side of the frame. I think all I have left is to build the two-drawer top deck and drawer faces and finish it out. A sleeping platform and side wings after that.
@Cold Iron Here is a closer look at...
Agreed! But that won’t help a sidewall.
I don’t understand this argument. What about your other 4? Do you change you tires every 30k worn or not? Did you buy a brand new AT tire and not rotate it or like most of the people asking this question, leave the 5 yr old city tire under there that the...
Wow, this got more lively than a “should I use premium gas in my GX” thread.
The biggest reason to do a five tire rotation for me is that if I get a flat 100 miles from pavement I don’t want to pull out some rotten 8 yr old street tire to get me and my family back to safety across 100 miles of...
This.
Five tire = 20% more cost, 20% longer mileage
Four tire = 10%more cost (assuming you replace it every 2 sets), 0% more mileage.
Tires last 8-10years before the rubber is too degraded to safely drive on. When you get a flat, do you want your spare to be a 10 year old tire that might...
