Hey, question for you guys: My winch rope came with a metal lug at the spool end. Do you use a bolt with that to attach to the spool, or just cut it off and pass the rope through the hole and use a knot (e.g., figure 8)? Seams to me the knot might actually be stronger, and would allow the...

FYI, I found a great source for battery lugs just up the road from me. I used elbow and right angle in this build, which helped a ton: Battery Lugs & Boots | Categories - https://www.electricalhub.com/battery-terminals-and-lugs

Yeah, I couldn't figure out how to eliminate all of those bends. All of them are actually manufactured lugs in those shapes except for the "A" connection (farthest forward on the driver side) which is actually the wire. I crimped it with the bend in it, and the welding cable is pretty...

Thanks... I will be watching carefully... the Blue Sea relay is rated at 500A continuous... but I do have a 300A battery fuse in the line, so if that pops, I may need to up that.

Finally got my rebuild lit up today! Here are a couple of before and after shots. It was a bear getting it apart, but I soaked it in Evaporust for about a week and it finally gave up! Mahle Letrika Motor DC88p-1000 Contactor Gigglepin upper housing bearing kit New main gear New contactor...

Using 8274 Control Solenoid for Cut-off?

Yeah, I'm at the stage of wiring up my rebuilt 8274 as well, so it's good to discuss. Not sure what I'm going to do yet, but putting the contactors in a box next to the battery seems to be the safer location for it... although, one could make the case that sitting behind a HFS bumper between...

Using 8274 Control Solenoid for Cut-off?

Then tell me again what the point of adding YAR in front of the main contactors? Isn't it to reduce the risk presented by having live current "sitting proud" on the front of the rig?

Using 8274 Control Solenoid for Cut-off?

I see, gotcha... pretty good case for just moving the contactor relay in next to the battery huh? I mean, why add YAR (yet another relay) to the system when you already have one?

Using 8274 Control Solenoid for Cut-off?

Why should the winch need to be isolated from the battery when not in use?

    WARN 8274...show what ya got!

I hope so! Thanks for the encouragement... the main gear has some messed up teeth, but the rest of the internals should still work. Will upgrade motor and contactor and see how it goes!

I have embarked on my 8274 journey! After soaking in Evaporust for a couple of days, I was able to get it apart! Starting to order new parts now.
