I dont do this but one could weld 1 link of chain to the shifter.
In problem areas toss a link of chain around the steering wheel and lock it to the shifter.
Nobody is getting very far like that.
Red wire on starter could be an activation wire for a previous charging system
I've used the "crank" wire to activate alternators before and it definitely works...
I suppose it could be...
It's got a bit different setup for the blend door.
The new one has a knob out the front and both of mine have cable control.
I think the donated heater went in a column shift Landcruiser...
Since my first drive didn't go that well, I determined I needed a new fuel pump.
I ordered and installed a brand new genuine Toyota mechanical fuel pump weeks ago but have neglected to drive it around and check its functionality.
My initial drive, I pulled out onto the road and the truck...
Recently I took some parts off of my parts pig to sandblast at work.
Both front and rear heaters and the seat rails.
Last night I was parked at my girlfriend's house, while there, a other fj55 front heater unit found it's way into my bed.
weirder than weird.
Anyone recognize the heater with a...
Last night, just for fun, I stuck the crank arm in the front of my Landcruiser, clicked the ignition on set the choke and give it a turn.
One turn and she was lit, via the hand crank, ice cold...
I think my carburation is closer to right than it has ever been before.
Next step is to put stickers...
My boss asked this morning if I wanted any help locating a diaphragm kit for the fuel pump.
I declined because I remember that the main oil leak i had years ago was from the pivot on the fuel pump rod.
It wollowed out a hole big enough to drip motor oil while running so I forked over $200 for a...
today I brought home 6 tires, bolted them on and warmed up the engine.
Then I pushed a dead tractor out of my way and backed the Landcruiser out of the garage for the first time in several years.
The excitement had just begun because when I took off down the street it fell flat on its face...
Today I finally got the radiator hoses on, warmed the old girl up and adjusted my carburetor. It runs really smooth, comes up to temp, good snappy throttle response... just need some tires at this point. Dude ordered toyo 33x 10.50 r15 open country m/t.
I hope they work out this time...
A few years back there were metal gears being made, I ordered one. Did those become unobtanium?
It seems like a place where a gear made of steel will save you from future headaches.
Today I dumped 10 gallons of fresh gasoline in the ol girl and primed it to the pump. Started up with a bit of cranking and idled high. (Carburetors are supposed to idle high on cold start).
Hey now that's progress.
This weekend is very busy but I'm hoping to put the radiator hoses on it, and...
Got my tires today, I was ecstatic until I got them home and they are toyo open country SxS tires. Not truck tires, not even legal to use on the street. What I needed was toyo open country M/T.
They do look great though.
Now I have to be the a****** who returns 6 custom ordered tires because...
4.6 liter v6, I've been a mechanic for a number of years and have not seen one. Could they possibly have meant that they used a 4.3l v6 that would be a common engine and would bolt up anywhere a 350 fits. Not what I'd have done but probably runs ok...
I got a call from the tire guy, he found some Toyo tires in 33x9.50 r15
Hes getting me those ×6 and it only raised the price $250.
2050.00 for 6 mud tires.
Over the weekend I pulled off all of my radiator hoses and ordered new replacement hoses. Toyota dealership claims they aren't available which inthink just means he doesn't want to spend time to look for em. But I found them at O-reiley, and that will have to work.
I also forked over $1800 for...
No, there's no fuel.
I removed the fuel filter and I'm replacing it, but nothing flows out of the hose when I tip it down.
I'll put fuel in the tank once I've got a good fuel filter on it.
I bent up a new steel line for the clutch hydraulic system today and got that functional.
I'm really...
While I'm waiting for the fuel filter to arrive, I took the initiative to get the market lights working.
Battery is solid
Brakes solid.
Lights work well enough to not get pulled over.
Need to get fuel to the engine, tune up the carb, and change the radiator hoses.
Get paperwork in order and...
Last night I dropped in a 84 month pro rated group #27 battery from NAPA, and attached my old cables to it. I nipped a few screws to stop fuel seepage at the carburetor and I got the engine to fire up.
It runs but won't idle.
I'm blaming the fuel filter at this time.
New oem fuel filter...
