Update:
I put 5 gallons in from a can at the house, to watch for leaks...nothing.
We got the blinkers working (son removed the airbag and steering wheel and found a bad connection to the blinker control module).
He took it to the gas station and topped it up. Got 2 gallons in...that's it...
Finally had a chance to go out and run this issue to ground.
Good news, cruiser is running!
Bad news...still not 100% certain of the cause.
Secondary cause....no fuel in tank!! Question is...why no fuel in tank?
First question I asked my son, when he said the cruiser wouldn't start, was "do...
I did the resistor mod to my old '97 80, back in the day. At least then the temp gauge was responsive and didn't have that huge dead spot.
I think I still have a few of those resistors floating around in the garage, come to think of it!
Just placed my order for a 100 series rear kit w/2 swing outs.
Did not see any opportunity to specify terminal pickup vs home delivery - but would welcome the chance to do that!
Thanks!!
Tim
Looks very straight-forward.
And you know I'm in because the first thing my wife asked, after I told her about the group buy, was "when does it end"?
No wife asks that, if the answer is already no! :)
My first thought was some rodent must have chewed something while it was sitting two weeks.
Funny, my '93 sits for up to two months on the property in MO...always fires right up...and sometimes I have to deconstruct packrat nests off the engine first!
Checked fuses and link. Will try switching out the EFI relay...but seeing as I am getting a CEL with ignition on, wouldn't this indicate the relay is ok?
This is kinda weird....
Son drove home from school in the '95 in my sig a couple weeks ago.
He reported that the turn signals quit working sometime between driving to school and coming home.
Parked the truck in front of the house like normal, with 3/4 tank of fuel. It sat for two weeks while...
Both of my old 80s (and my 281k mile Sienna) are running the Prestone Universal stuff ...but I did flush the bejeebers out of them before switching - just in case the sludge stories are true!
I'll be baselining a new-to-me 100 soon...will probably keep running the Toyota stuff in my "new" 16...
Yup!
I ran my bypass inside an oversize heater hose and secured it.
No flapping, no chafing and I could change it on the side of the road in 10 minutes! But I will never have to!
I have done at least 4 bypasses (all different rigs) in the past 10 years. No failures, as expected.
Thanks to all for this thread!
Replaced my high beam switch so I can pass inspection and of course, once everything was bottled-up the airbag light was on.
Doofus me tried to reset using the OBD II port and not the diagnostics under the hood.
Slow learner I am...but I finally read everything...
I have brakes again (well,kinda).
I drove up to Missouri yesterday after a half-day in the office. Got to the cruiser at 11:30pm. By 12:30am I had operational front brakes.
Cleaned up, threw the sleeping bag out at 2am and grabbed 4 hours sleep, bled the brakes at 0630 and was on the way back...
