Neither driveshaft will spin?????
Brian, The only way the rear d-shaft won't spin is if the rear wheels are off the ground, or it's removed , and inside the truck!!!!! Earl
I BUILT MY OWN, USING A PAIR OF TIRE MOUNT HINGES, AND LATCH, WITH HOMEMADE CATCH ON THE FRAME. tHE INSIDE OF THE RACK LOCKS, AND OPENS TWARD THE TAILGATE WHEN THE RACK IS SWUNG OUT. tHE SECTION THAT OPENS HAS BARS THAT SECURE THE CANS WHEN IT'S CLOSED.
I SOLD THE 40 THIS SUMMER, AND GOT WHAT I...
Timing
Mac, I wrote my previous message assuming you had a vacuum advance dizzy, and either way the line should go to ported vacuum!
When you get the lines correct, (Please see a manual) then set the timing at 7-8 degrees advance, with the vacuum line off the dizzy, and plugged, and at...
Vacuum hook ups
Hi, the one thing I see besides the "no check valve", is that you have the vavuum advance on the distributor direct to the manifold, it should be to the capped, ported vacuum outlet on the carb, just behind where it's hooked up now. You don't want advance at idle, and thats...
Dash cover
Hi, I re-covered my dash with Cool Cruisers of Texas' cover, arround $55.00. IT glued down ok, but had to put several braces from the seats to hold the bottom edge, and weighted the top at the same time. HTH, Earl
A/C/ in a 40, A DIFFERENT IDEA!
Here's a shot of the conversion van rear unit, suspended from the roll bar, and installed so the top can be removed! The r/f/motor mount is FJ-60, with a custom mount plate for aa compressor from an '81 Datsun 810 wagon, the condenser came from the same car. The...
Juke, I used Bill Dorey's mount, and it uses the original pedistal holes. I centered the box, and re-installed the pitman arm with the wheels in the same position as before the arm came off the old box. That worked great, and was simple! Keep it simple I always say! Earl
Aaron, You may have mixed up the rocker shaft standards, I did it myself. There's only one with a drilled passage! It's the second one from the front! Good luck, Earl
Brandon, Here's a picture of the jerry can holder I built! It's 3/4 square tubing, a piece of sheet metal where the liscense lamp and plate are mounted, the entire rack is hinged on early tire swing out hinges, and 2 piece latch assy. , the side that faces the truck is the side that opens, has a...
How big is it
Max, Thats assuming it's not the original engine, which was probably a f and 1/2, or a f block (3.9 liters) and 2F oiling system with a full flow oil filter system.
Haystaks, First the rod should be shortened if it's not releasing, and second, a neat replacement booster/master is a complete unit from a 95 Tacoma, with a 1/2" spacer between the booster, and the firewall. Bought one at a re-cycler for $75.00, a lot better than oem, and the brakes are much...
Belt options
Bailey, Would a longer belt and using the compressor adjustment, lower the York enough to have the belt clear the housing? Does the York have a double pulley? It looks like it does! I think lowering the York seems to be the easiest way out, but that's just judging from the...
