I'm posting this for my uncle who has a 1983 Toyota long bed. It has about 100,000 miles and was a donated vehicle from Toyota to the Spokane Sheriffs office.
The truck idles fine and will drive for some amount of time before dieing. At that point you have to wait and let it idle. Last...
You can make one. I made this one years ago to replace the mangled chrome piece:

Smitty built and all-pro make nice bumpers also, a short box bumper will fit a long box truck.
My uncle has a 1983 pickup that is really very stock, but it has recently gone through 4 Toyota ignitors. It runs great for about 500 miles then craps out. He carries a spare now.
What sort of things could be causing this? Is there something wrong possibly with the power it is recieving...
Find a supercharger and away you go! They are cheaper than you think, and easy to find and very reliable. I DD with a 3.8 SC and I love it!
The 350 is a fine trans. Find a cheap shift kit for it and you'll be happy, until you need an overdrive.

The transmission has a bad bearing and there won't be time to take it out, rebuild it, and put it back. So, instead, I'm looking into buying a used...
I bought a Flex-a-lite Blackmagic from Summit. It was fine, but noisier than the stock fan. I never had a problem overheating. I noticed no powergain. If I was to do it again (which is impossible since I sold it) I would repair/replace the stock fan clutch. They just work better and with...
If it's cubes you'd like, then I suggest this:
427 Small block Chevy from Summit and it has a nice warranty!

Thanks. It only took 4 hours to make that bumper.
I have a drawing of some 2" square tubing sliders someplace too. I don't have any pics though. I sold the truck last year, but now I have a Pig!
I went through two bearings on my old long bed. I had a custom one piece shaft made instead for the same price. Besides, I think the earlier trucks had a one piece, and so did the later (86+).
Just steer clear of NWOR stuff. I hated everyday with thier springs. Rode like a pogo stick. Plus, the leafs are so thick that it caused the leaf above to bend. Lifetime warranty my ass. They said it was my fault.
