I have a JetBoil system and have to admit that it's pretty slick. I prefer a smaller/lighter setup though, small titanium stove and small SnowPeak pot). The JetBoil does really good at what it was designed to do...boil water. Also have a Whisperlite Intl which I haven't used in years. I love...
Yeah, Arcteryx stuff is expensive. I don't own any but I have seen a lot come through SteepandCheap.com . That is a online clearance site for backcountry.com, each item is on there for a certain amount of time, you can only order during that time-frame, etc. (items not sold out are repeated in...
Our Costco also definitely did not have a shortage of them. I have heard that anything at Costco with a price ending in ".97" is on clearance...and so far that seems to be true. All the stuff that I've seen ending in ".97" is usually a killer deal, 5 pack of folding razor knifes for $9.97, etc...
I think these numbers vary with the different brands it's been sold under. Mine, which I bought at Pep Boys a few years ago, for not that cheap ($69 I think) is exactly the same as these...yet mine had a different box that said the runtime was 45 minutes, at 40psi at I believe 80-degrees-F. I...
Sleeping in the vehicle is great I think. Only issue is having to move a bunch of stuff either outside or cram the front seats to the ceiling...I've never had an issue with condensation, just left a few windows open maybe an inch, also just leave the sunroof open a bit, which works fine around...
Well son of a gun...was looking around tonight and in another thread someone mentioned bigfrogmountain.com had good prices for the Engel units...they do, kinda...but what was interesting is how the description was worded:
"The Engel MT45 Large size, Commercial. This unit has a 43 qt. Capacity...
Great find...I like the Waeco units...looks like most of their dealers are RV centers, which I'm guessing would have to order a portable fridge like these, may have some built-in units instock, but doubt these...cool...
Just was looking at the box the compressor I just got at Costco came in...it no longer states the duty cycle and all that. When I bought my first compressor from PepBoys, can't remember what brand it was, probably the MV-1050 or whatever, that box actually stated the rated runtime, what psi...
Well that's what I'm trying to figure out...just because some have a digital temp gauge doesn't mean the electronics of the fridge actually use that info for anything. The ARB one has a electronic display showing you the current temp also...but when you set the dial, you aren't specifically...
Hmm...well that's what I first thought...but in the Aussie test did the fridges actually work harder to keep at a certain temp? That would imply it could sense the absolute interior temp..not just the sense the temp difference from inside to outside...
Guess I'll just have to buy one and...
I did see that comparison..but I guess I didn't fully understand the test they were doing...that's interesting (and cool)...so apparently on the fridge the settings are more or less temperature settings, just don't tell you what temp, but it will up it's own duty cycle to maintain some preset...
One other thing you didn't mention (I don't have a CO2 tank and don't really like things that require something to be filled...): If you're welding offroad you don't have to weld with flux-core wire, you can do a full MIG welding setup, with a ReadyWelder for example...usually the flux would be...
Looking at getting a Engel / ARB fridge...as best I can tell the setting on the unit is a duty-cycle setting, just how much you want the compressor to run. Not an actual temperature setting, keep it there, etc. So you set it to say 2 and it cools to say 34 degrees, but if it's in a 110 degree...
I picked one up awhile ago, haven't used it yet. Folding oven which you put on a stove, no insuluation, no idea how hot it'll get, but sposeto be able to bake in it...anyone tried one?

BTW, just happened to be in Salt Lake City today and the Costco here (is there more than one? Not sure...) has them...I really like that dual pump one though..and some bling-bling.. .:D
I haven't used a different hose but I did cut the hose and put my own end on it, so it doesn't have that stupid screw-on thing (mine was leaking). Just cut it at the rubber part at the end, then slide in a barbed piece (designed to repair air hoses) and then you can put whatever end you want on...
Good find at Checker / PartsAmerica...not available in my area...also I looked a few years ago when they were on clearance for $25...stores around here had no idea what they were, never seen them, couldn't even look them up, frustrating to say the least...but if you can find one at Checker then...
Happened to be in a different Costco today (Westminster one)...and wanted to see how bad my cellphone camera was...pretty bad...this Costco has a nifty display, the other Costco did not have the cool display.
