Selling my family member. 1988 FJ62. We’ve enjoyed this work horse for nearly 15 years, but my work necessitates a pickup. Since purchasing a pickup in 2021, she’s not really been used. Time for someone else to give her some...
Howdy. Made the dumb mistake of telling the detailer to do the engine bay when prepping my 1988 FJ62 for sale. Now it won't start.
It's been 5 days. Engine bay is dry. Distributor has spark. Not sure what else to test. Any thoughts?
TIA!
Sorry for posting here - I know it's supposed to be in the wanted section, but I think I'll get more responses here.
Anyway, I have my FJ62 torn apart and found that my last distributor was torn up (don't ask). Electrical works, but the shaft/gears are toast.
Anyone have a dead...
Some odd issues for me with my 1988 FJ62. I bought it 3 years ago and did a complete restoration. All new cap, rotor, wires, etc... (along with $20k of other stuff).
Anyway, it sat parked about a month and tried to start it the other day and it'd turn over but not start.
Pulled out my...
So I installed it the way the first pic shows. As I feel the 2nd jus creates a channel to hold water. Someone care to snap a pic of their gate to confirm the orientation?
Thanks!
Yes. It's the upper portion of the rear gate. The part w/ the glass. Shot is the top right corner.
The 2nd pic seems to just create a channel for water to be held in. Are you sure that's the right orientation?
Got the cart before my horse and took out my old gasket without noticing the orientation. Which way does it go (fsm isn't helpful)?
Thx
Robert
I presume the first pic. FYI this is the gasket attached to the top gate itself.
Thanks. I'm having Mudrak take care of this for me (some things are just easier to farm out especially as it requires welding, which I don't have access to). I emailed him and asked him to check.
It's a complete kit. Comes with a bag of hardware (in the box on the right) and the tubing (on top of the tank in the pics). (Well, you need pipe fitting tape). Cost around $1k (check MAF's website) and shipping of $140 from them to me (Nor Cal).
NOT CHEAP!

Ok. Just got my Man-a-Fre 38 gal FJ62 tank.
Dimensions are as follows. Looking at the picture above, the top of tank is laying on the carpet. The left part of the image is the front, the right is the rear of the tank. Thus, you're looking at the right (passenger) side of the tank...
SF here as well. Can't miss my rig. If you want to talk lights and ARB, ping me any time. I've done more than my share of electrical work to the rig. Gary replaced my radiator a few years ago, it was just easier having him do that and a bunch of other things all at once. Rig looks nice...
Thanks so much. One last question, are all the same as in your pic? I rather have complete loops instead of these open ones.
So if they are then I will get hardware somewhere besides from toyota.
Thx
Robert
Thanks for the pic. I have holes, but no hardware. Seems the PO may have removed these or they never existed in my rig. (FYI, my 88 did not have shoulder belts).
Can someone take a close up of them? As I have aftermarket carpet, I'd like to see what the factory looked like. Are they...
I just read that there are tie down points in the cargo area in the FJ62. For the life of me I don't see them in my 1988 FJ62. Can someone snap a pic of the location and what they look like?
Thanks
Robert
