    Seat covers

I've had SMS Auto Fabric duplicate that same fabric pattern. The quality was bad and customer service worse. Looked very nice initially, but it faded and surface is frayed and fuzzy on drivers seat now. Upholstery is only three years old and my truck sits inside the garage 90% of the time. No...

Here we go! Onto the FJ60 bandwaggon. Dsalni Build.

My memory is coming back to me. Another time I found aftermarket shackles with 3/4" holes. I made bushings just for the bolt holes on the shackle to take up the slop between the 18mm bolt and larger 3/4" shackle hole. Since the bushings only need to be 1/4" wide or whatever the width of your...

Here we go! Onto the FJ60 bandwaggon. Dsalni Build.

Most all the hardware being sold is for 5/8 leaf spring bolts, some 9/16. Land Cruiser bolts are 18mm as are ID's of the bushings. Frame mounts and shackles would need re-drilled to 18mm. Or some steel sleeves would need to be made with 5/8" ID and 18mm OD to take up the slop between the bolts...

Here we go! Onto the FJ60 bandwaggon. Dsalni Build.

My truck originally had the typical 3” SUA Land Cruiser springs. Then i swapped out the rear springs for a brand new set of 63” Chevy 3/4 ton 3 in lift springs (SUA). The main purpose was for more flex rock crawling. In comparison, with the 63’s, the truck sat 1” lower in the back, the ride...

    fj60 brown upholstery

I ordered some fabric from a place in Oregon. Was told it would take three months. Took over three years to get it. The fabric looked perfect and was a perfect match initially. Did my front seats. Three years later my front seats are faded and don't match the OEM back seats. My front seats are...

    Builds Cruisermatt's FJ62 Build-up

Correction: I searched my memory banks, It was a 1.75" ram I had gone with. If I was doing mine over again, I would put a 2" on it. I will say the 1.75 didn't affect road manners or make steering twitchy the least little bit. I put swivel ends on everything including the crawler. I never...

You might want to rethink the 1.5" ram. I put a 1.5" ram on the brown 60 and barely noticed any assist in normal driving, slightly better in the rocks. Surplus Center has good RAM prices. Discount Hydraulic Hose.com has a good price on R2 hydraulic hose and reuseable fittings.

A 4BD1T for Ellinor, and Some Other Projects

Just re-read above posts. I see you're looking at the Diesel Tim setup. IIRC it uses the Isuzu bell housing. It's probably best to verify with him if the kit is setup for the GM-NV4500 or Dodge NV4500 as the Dodge has a longer input shaft. If you already know this, forgive me for stating the...

A 4BD1T for Ellinor, and Some Other Projects

I went with the 95 up GM along with the GM bell housing. There's no provisions for a clutch fork or external slave, but that's alright. The GM internal slave works very well. Even with a 12" clutch, pedal pressure is as light as a Corolla. Never a leak, failure or even an adjustment in 14 years...

    Downey Chevota throw out bearing

Has anyone ever tried using a 7/8 bore master with a Toyota slave? A smaller bore slave? My other 60 has an NV4500 with GM internal hydraulic throw out bearing. Originally I tried using stock 60 hydraulics and found there just wasn't enough clutch disengagement. Moving up to a 7/8 clutch...

Thanks for the replies and great information. Actually it's a better explanation than anything in archives.

I have contacted them in the past, which led a recommendation that a complete specialized Chevota clutch kit should be purchased.

    Downey Chevota throw out bearing

Old school Chevy V8, H55. Downey bell housing & kit. I'm doing a routine clutch change out. Stock Chevy LUK clutches work fine for me. I've never replaced the throw out bearing in past engine swaps, clutch changes, etc because I never knew what application the throw out bearing is. It's...

    Builds Cruisermatt's FJ62 Build-up

I keep forgetting you have a build thread. Will check in more often. Glad I got to stop by and check it out in person. Matt is a 21 yr old college student that has accumulated an amazing amount of knowledge and skills in a short amount of time. AND is accomplishing it all on a tight budget.

    63" Chevy spring hanger mounts

lacking photos or a thread. All I could find is a couple of old pics. Cut front mounts out of 3 X 3 sq tube. Rears are 2 x2 .250 sq tube cut out for 1.75 .120 DOM that Dayton RB117 bushings would fit in. Spring saddles all steel w/o rubber. I forget what size tube I used to cut them out of...

    carpet for a 60

Chester&Herod (760) 738-4296 They make the carpet kits for some of the Land Cruiser vendors. I called them and man who answered the phone was very familiar with the FJ60 and knew all details of an FJ60 interior off the top of his head. The carpet kit was average quality, but good value for the...

Very well thought out and great work!! Can't wait to see it. Good call on mount at center of the tranny. It's amazing the number of experienced truck builders that outbound their tranny mounts. I find myself double clutching with the NV4500 too. Makes for smoother shifts.
