    She's TOPLESS!

I DID mention the new racing handling my cruiser exhibits in the first post! The diesel speed racer.

    She's TOPLESS!

Speaking of which, does anybody want the SOR extreme summer top I have that wouldn't fit my non-stock bar? It is the model with the mesh "window" behind your head. I'll give you a good discount, especially if you can pick it up (I am in DC). It is tan and has never been completely on the truck ;)

    She's TOPLESS!

I ordered the safari bikini top from sor after discovering that the extreme summer top didn't fit (my bench jump seats and roll bar spacing interfered). I haven't driven in a debris filled area yet so the no-doors hasn't been a problem. I'll consider half doors at some point (perhaps the...

    She's TOPLESS!

After tricking two friends to help me after work I've got my summer cruiser configuration for the first time. That thing was not light. Next the doors came off and I rigged the seatbelt points onto the roll bar. Amazing. So much fun to roll down the road on what feels like a 4x4 sled...

    First top removal

Since I am the lucky owner of a cruiser with 2 of the seatbelt points on the removeable hard top I guess some drilling is in order. My '81 didn't have a roll bar in it, so I added a metaltech stock-style bar (no bolts to use). tomorrow should be the big day for top removal - just found a self...

    First top removal

How about the seatbelt relocation to the [new] roll bar? Is there a good kit for that or should I just drill the bar with new bolt holes?

    First top removal

Though my BJ40 top has been taken off recently for shop body work, I haven't done it myself or even witnessed it being done. Is there anything I should have handy for this? Major pitfalls I need to look out for? Thanks :)

    Power Steering

Anyone with a power steering 40 around DC willing to get bribed with a beer? Would like to take a spin to feel the difference.

    Power Steering

You kick much ass!! Was wondering on the position of the pump, this clears it all up :) Amazing how far forward the assumbly extends...practically at the bumper! Thanks again.

I know it is a lot to ask, but could someone draw arrows or circles to point out the new PS elements? thanks in advance :)

    Power Steering

Well I have no idea what I'm looking for on those pics Ron, sorry. I guess I really just need to know if it is a relatively easy upgrade. I'd probably buy the correct kit and watch a paid pro put it on. My Bj40 sports the B engine, not the 3B, by the way.

Where on the motor would the holes be? I'll take a look.

    Does NOT have p/s ;)

    Power Steering

My '81 BJ40 does now have p/s, but I've been curious about tackling the upgrade. I have a few questions, especially if anyone out there has done it on a 40. - How is the steering feel afterwards? Really mushy? Good feedback or no? - What kit is best respected? Used OEM? Others? - Any other...

FJ40/BJ40 around DC over the holidays?

I'll be out of town starting on Wednesday, but will try to make it to one of these meetings. Had fun comparing BJ40 to BJ70 on Sunday :)

    Cruiser Maintenance

dude it sure sounds like you want a 60/62. Go with what you really want or you'll just keep lusting. I wouldn't get a 40 for your daily driver, btw, I did that for a year and I can't imagine a wife and kid being down with it ;) Going outside now to put mirrors on the [now admittedly a toy] BJ40.
