This is my truck on consignment through this classics dealer - check her out...
Speaking of which, does anybody want the SOR extreme summer top I have that wouldn't fit my non-stock bar? It is the model with the mesh "window" behind your head. I'll give you a good discount, especially if you can pick it up (I am in DC).
It is tan and has never been completely on the truck ;)
I ordered the safari bikini top from sor after discovering that the extreme summer top didn't fit (my bench jump seats and roll bar spacing interfered).
I haven't driven in a debris filled area yet so the no-doors hasn't been a problem. I'll consider half doors at some point (perhaps the...
After tricking two friends to help me after work I've got my summer cruiser configuration for the first time. That thing was not light. Next the doors came off and I rigged the seatbelt points onto the roll bar.
Amazing. So much fun to roll down the road on what feels like a 4x4 sled...
Since I am the lucky owner of a cruiser with 2 of the seatbelt points on the removeable hard top I guess some drilling is in order. My '81 didn't have a roll bar in it, so I added a metaltech stock-style bar (no bolts to use).

My Bj40 sports the B engine, not the 3B, by the way.
My '81 BJ40 does now have p/s, but I've been curious about tackling the upgrade. I have a few questions, especially if anyone out there has done it on a 40.
- How is the steering feel afterwards? Really mushy? Good feedback or no?
- What kit is best respected? Used OEM? Others?
- Any other...
dude it sure sounds like you want a 60/62. Go with what you really want or you'll just keep lusting. I wouldn't get a 40 for your daily driver, btw, I did that for a year and I can't imagine a wife and kid being down with it ;)
Going outside now to put mirrors on the [now admittedly a toy] BJ40.
