I've daily driven an FJ62 for 5 years or so now and things that have improved my MPG have been replacing the old worn out O2 sensors and rebuilding the blown out rear diff. One item that might get overlooked for a DD cruiser in terms of MPG gains is sticking with factory tires sizes, IIRC it's a...

Got the truck back from the muffler shop, turns out we only needed to cut out the old bungs and weld in new pipe. It’s not winning any show awards, but the truck is more steady under power now. Will update if the road-trip CEL returns.
When I picked up my FJ62, it needed brakes and tires. I was sliding through intersections since the tires were cheapo and dried out. Don't skimp on tire quality when diagnosing poor stopping performance. I'd also skip out on mud terrains and shoot for a good A/T like Goodyear/BFG.
I'm running...
Hmm, yeah this is gonna need to get cut out at the cat and new downpipes installed.
I don’t think I can get my angle grinder to the bolts at the cats without damaging the surrounding area.
What all is needed to replace the down pipes?

This is the state of the lower O2 sensor attachment point, had it soaking for a few days in PB Blaster. Not much to grab onto, going to try a wrench and maybe a bolt extractor. These down pipes may be beyond saving.
Got the bolts soaking in PB blaster and was talking with a friend and he recommended some heat: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Lincoln-Electric-Port-A-Torch-Kit/1000119507
Thinking ahead, I can reach the lower O2 sensor nuts no problem, but the upper one that has the heat shield seems tricky. I can...
This may be the one to get, supposed to be factory fitment: Advance Auto Parts - Down for Maintenance - https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/denso-first-time-fit-oxygen-sensor-c5010100889nd/10741063-P?vehicleIdSearch=13986&isAllVehicle=false
Yeah for sure, I can’t verify if these are original or not but they do seem due to be replaced anyway. I’m not sure if the Denso units from Advance Auto are a direct fit, I think I was reading on here the wires are too short.
After taking a look at the O2 sensors, I’m not wondering if it would be better to replace the down pipe as well. The unshielded one looks fused to the metal via rust.
Hey all,
I've been digging around the forums finding other forums with similar behavior to what I'm seeing with my truck,
What my truck is currently experiencing(236k miles):
CEL on highway after long operation under continuous load, 45m-1.5hr
Seemly reduced fuel economy, down to 1/4 tank...
What's the benefit of running a high zinc racing oil in a low revving engine like the 2F? I've thought about looking for a higher zinc oil over my regular Shell Rotella 10w-30.
Looking at the door cards themselves: J60 Door Panel Set | orikawa - https://www.orikawa.net/product-page/door-panel-set
They're only for the FJ60 doors with manual window cranks, not sure if they'd do a customization for FJ62 automatic window controls.
