I moved from the city to the country about 13 years ago. I was tired of repairing the diffs, axles and transfer cases of Grand Cherokees so I found a triple locked '94 LC with 160k miles on CL for a couple $K and got rid of the Jeeps. The previous owner also threw in a bunch of extra parts that...

Going on two years now and no problems. Drove it around the first summer without a fan shroud and never near overheating in traffic on 38°C (100°F) days.
Went on a planned 800 mile R.T. trip yesterday with my '94 pulling a small rented trailer. Fuel tank was topped off at the start. 180 miles in I suddenly realize that my tank is sitting below Empty. I could swear it was just near half on the gauge. The low fuel lamp is NOT on though. I...
Around here the driving style is mostly "race to the next red light". I am very serious and important person, yet I don't need to get there only a few seconds earlier than I could have. Many drivers don't seem to ever consider the conservation of momentum, lower MPG and fewer service intervals...
400HP? Everybody knows that anything under 500HP is just a washing machine engine.
8.6L Chevy BB
just use a bigger and better fuel pump and looked for used vs new :)

Replaced the radiator, big hoses and clamps several weeks ago. Noticed that my coolant level was 1 liter (~1 quart) or so low every few days but never saw a drip. I'd smell antifreeze while driving on hot days but never see a leak. Got worried it was the head gasket again or heater core...
Can you swap to a V8 in CA as long as you also swap the factory ECU? Say you swap everything over from a 200 into an 80, do they check to see if the ECU matches the year and make of the body?
250K is just the break in period for the 1FZ-FE. Mr T just skimped on a bit of bit of metal for the gasket around #6. Save the need for acceleration for a vehicle 2-3K lbs lighter.
I rebuilt my engine at 180K on my '94 when the head gasket went. Now at 340K and only have a few drops of oil here and there. My future plan is to convert to RusEFI for the ECU, swap to wide band O2's and replace the distributor with coil packs. I really don't need a turbo and I occasionally tow...
Maybe after someone gets the ChinaCo knockoff we'll see what to do it to make it more reliable. I look at lots of ChinaCo knockoffs as kits that you just need to finish off yourself to make it into a proper tool or device.
I am going to add transmission control to RusEFI since it is open source and I typically want to swap an engine along with a transmission that won't even have a factory combo.

Edit: I am also adding wide band CO2 sensors.
Saw this schematic in another thread 93-94 truck VAF to MAF conversion project - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/93-94-truck-vaf-to-maf-conversion-project.151783/post-2102512
Looks like it's drawn wrong based on the test readings and uses ~2K thermistor...
:) There are several threads on this. Every hose, gasket, seal and rubber part. After nearly 30 years the materials all break down. I did a valve job including new seals and took a few thou off the deck. New PHH, power steering lines, fan clutch, fuel filter, oil pump, timing chain and gears...
I did a "while I was in there" when my head gasket went at 180K, and pulled the engine, trans and transfer case and replaced everything that generally wears plus a valve job over two weeks myself. Eight years and 160K miles later I just have a couple fluid drips at times.
